Srinagar: Two unidentified militants were killed on Sunday after a gunfight between militants and army raged at Waripora area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A joint team of army and SoG cordoned off the suspected Waripora area and started search operation after input about the presence of militants, police sources said.
The militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering an encounter, they added.
“Two militants were killed and two weapons were recovered in the operation,” army spokesman, Col Manish told Kashmir Reader adding area sanitation was under progress.
The identification of the slain militants was yet not ascertained.
