India is way down at 56 number too, so whats your point? Pakistan is not there in a lot of list. Doesn't mean there is no crime in Pakistan. It usually means that data for your country is hard to find, I wouldn't really be taking pride in that. That just means your country is unorganized. When was the last time you guys had a national census?
@ Bilal
I don't think a UK government website would publish wrong info either.
It doesn't reflect anything. Goa receives more tourist than whole Pakistan. There are certain guideline in specific area which need to be followed. 1-2 such incident doesn't make overall situation for Millions of Tourists. Indeed, some incident happens everywhere in the world including Brazil, South Africa, etc.
There is difference between 1/2 Incident out of 10,000's of tourist who come rather than people don't even dare to go to Pakistan due to fear of Blast. lol That's why Pakistan is Failed Country and competiting with countries like Somalia, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, Iraq, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Failed_state
pakistan is not in the list, go figure
yes pakistan is a failed state, india is not, see the diff, pak has no rape india has loads of rapes a day
our census are held every 5 yrs
foreign journalists are welcome to pakistan anytime to investigate the rape cases, media in pak is free and criticizes any mishap, so go figure
Pakistan has a long history of Census taking and the first regular Population Census in the area now comprising Pakistan was held in 1881. Since then regular censuses have been conducted after every ten years in the year ending at one. After independence, the first census of Pakistan was conducted in 1951, the second in 1961 while the third census was held in 1972 instead of 1971 due to political environment in the country and war with India. The fourth census was held in March 1981 and fifth one which was due in 1991 could be held in March, 1998 due to specific circumstances.
You cannot report rape in Pakistan without 4 eye witnesses as per your islamic law. so the women quietly endure it.
Foreign journalists can't and won't come to compile your crime statistics. Whenever these studies are done, the crime stats are sourced from respective governments agencies.
And as per the human rights commission 2 women are raped every hour in Pakistan. Thats 48 a day and 17500 in a year.
And thats your census history.
Every 60 minutes, two women are raped in this country.
What is more horrendous is that 133 elderly women were sexually assaulted last year, according to the latest report prepared by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
A total of 20,737 cases of rape were reported last year registering a 7.2 per cent increase over the previous year, with Madhya Pradesh becoming the "rape capital" of the country by topping the list of such incidents.

These are the reported & unreported rapes in a year. In 2008, India had 20,737 reported cases (does not include the unreported ones) of rape:

yes 2 rapes a day, where is rape in the news??, we dont see rape cases per hour as india, and foreigners have exploited many rape cases in pakistan like mukhtara mai etc just to badname pakistan
KARACHI: On average, 100 women are raped every 24 hours in Karachi city alone, and a majority of them are working women, said Additional Police Surgeon (APS) Dr Zulfiqar Siyal.
A majority of them are working class women or those working as domestic help and are mostly up to 20 years old, he said.
“I am saying with full authority that such a large number of rape cases happen in the city,” he told Daily Times on the sidelines of a discussion on sexual violence organised by the Aurat Foundation on Monday. “But very few rape survivors have the courage to come forward in search of justice.”
They do not come forward because of the lengthy medical process and delayed justice system in Pakistan. Only 0.5 percent of cases are reported and the majority (99.5 percent) of survivors prefers to stay silent.
Part of the problem is that there are 11 medico-legal sections in three major public sector hospitals but there are only six women medico-legal officers (WMLOs) for the 18 million population of Karachi.
