dhoni should have retired before the cup. he was known as the great finisher of the game but in this WC he was using his reputation. he is no more a dangerous finisher. he played like misbah in this WC. he should have tried to accelerate the run rate after the 40th over but he didnt.

Surprised India lost, the early batting collapse just wasn't like them. With such good form, momentum and quality, they were easily my favourites to win this tournament. But just as well they didn't, their hate spewing trolls would have a field day.

Jokes and trolling aside, some folks are still banging on about eng vs ind match being cheating or match fixing etc etc. It wasn't cheating or match fixing and this isn't some kind of weird karma for that day. Results engineering is perfectly legitimate and we would gladly do the same. Indian cricketers have come off quite well overall this world cup. They have played decently, esp the bowlers, and they have not whinged in press conferences (too much).

Where India has failed is in its politicians, media and citizens mixing politics with sports throughout the tournament and going so far as to support a propaganda war during the tournament. The free balochistan episode brought the game into disrepute and it is quite telling that ICC and British police acted only after the retaliatory free Kashmir episode. The British media has almost airbrushed the initial incident out of the timeline, thus creating a narrative that "India is the victim of an unprovoked attack". This manipulation of event timelines isn't surprising to most of us who follow Indian politics and media, but hopefully the rest of the world learned something new about the world's largest democracy this year.
