What is the context of these photos? POW's from the Korean war whooping it up in a staged propaganda set piece?
the chinese army is known for the dignity and decency with which it treated POWs historically. the less honorable american souls wanted to see ulterior motives in such magnaminous acts, and to such despicable charges a truly generous nation can have no rhetoric comeback except wishing that americans, too, would one day have such shining "staged propagandas" to show the world (and would hide abu ghraibs and guantanomos better)

WASHINGTON — The military trainers who came to Guantánamo Bay in December 2002 based an entire interrogation class on a chart showing the effects of “coercive management techniques” for possible use on prisoners, including “sleep deprivation,” “prolonged constraint,” and “exposure.”
What the trainers did not say, and may not have known, was that their chart had been copied verbatim from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions, many of them false, from American prisoners.
