1948 British report: Arabs will lose war - Israel News, Ynetnews

Even prior to withdrawing its troops from Israel in 1948, the British government realized the partition of the country and the establishment of the State of Israel would result in a war - that the Arabs would lose, according to declassified UK government documents published Friday by The Guardian.

Another document from 1946 states that "the Jewish public in Israel supports terrorism, in light of British policy."

According to the British newspaper, various Colonial Office reports paint a picture of increasing "terrorist acts" by the Jews, and the external pressure from the US, the UN and the Zionist movement to divide the country. In addition, the documents criticize British Mandate officials who were concerned with "how to allocate between them two Rolls-Royces and a Daimler" during the tense times.

Colonial Secretary George Hall was told "The Jewish public … endorsed the attitude of its leaders that terrorism is a natural consequence of the general policy of His Majesty's Government." This included the illegal infiltration of Jews into Palestine.

Another document quoted a British official who, in a report to London in October 1946, more than a year before the UN vote over the partition plan, said that "Arab leaders appear to be still disposed to defer active opposition so long as a chance of a political decision acceptable to Arab interests exists."

..........

Lets ignore the British part in this conflict but it's funny everyone denies Jews were committing terror acts during 1948, they love to just blame a 'few' of their Irgun groups, etc...

Illegal infiltration of Jews....that seems to be a unknown thing to the media when we discuss this conflict.

You look further in and it claims Jewish 'provocations' could cause thousands to flee but also cause clashes.

.
Not startling at all. The Brits listed many Israelis on their terror list back in the day, which is funny.

It's well known. Most Arab countries were under mandates and were very late in terms of armament and training from the Jews who got trained in EU, yet, Jews outnumbered Arabs, had more advance weapon and much better training. It's worth mentioning that King Abdullah the first warned against this war and expected a defeat, nevertheless he was called a traitor and was assassinated. He proposed a Jewish state on small part of Palestine but no one listened to him, and now Arabs ask Jews for a Palestinian state on a smal part of Palestine.

You are correct on the numbers, traning, etc... But didn't Abdullah have meetings with the Jewish Agency? And he wanted the Arab areas in Palestine to be relocated to TransJordan I think. But I also believe some people refute those claims he ever spoke with them. The assasination was very moronic and stupid though. There was much distrust between him and Arabic league leaders.

First terrorist attack - March 1st 1920

"Battle of Tel Hai"

a Shiite Arab militia, accompanied by Bedouin from a nearby village, attacked the Jewish agricultural settlement of Tel Hai. In the aftermath of the battle eight Jews and five Arabs were killed

This was the first recorded attack between Arabs and Jews in 'palestine'.

Arabs went on to carry out 4 more such attacks before the Jews responded.

Fair enough, what about the terror list the Brits had back in the day?

How's that a terror attack? Right? 5 Arabs must have been shot killed and there was violence before that. But the main issue was illegal immigration.

Many more Arabs in British jail for terror than Jews.

August 23–26, 1929 Hebron massacre - 67 Jews killed (their land which they had lived on for millennia was stolen and kept to this day)

August 29, 1929 Safed massacre - 20 Jews killed.

And I see the 'palestinian' who was born in America is using 'immigration' as an excuse for massacres.

That's the mind of a Palestinain? killing so-called immigrants?

And you're American? wanting to live in Gaza one day? you'll be an immigrant yeah?

And Arafat? where was he from? Egypt yeah bro? an immigrant

And who do your lovely Hamas name their terrorist group after? a 'palestinian' yeah bro? where was he from bro?

What you mean to say is Arabs were just pathetic.

I actually understand that terrorism knows no faith or race, I'm just talking to you about it. What about Irgun?

Arafat was born to a Palestinian family. He never had Egyptian citizenship. And Hamas wasn't create until the 80's.

Again, you can't invade a country and then questions it's people origins. It's the same as saying France doesn't belong to French people since Sarkosi is of Hungarian origins. Do you even have any idea how dumb this make you look like?

Irgun was a terrorist group which Israel dealt with very harshly. In terms of deaths and destruction though, it cannot be compared to Palestinian groups. They have the monopoly on terrorism
