A closed border policy is difficult to enforce, you can't just build a big wall and not monitor the border. I don't think Pak army has the capacity to do so. But we should fix our own problem as well. Taliban have their roots in Deobandism, which was influenced by Najdi Salafism around 19 century.

The Deoband institute esp should be closed down along with all other madrassas. A large demographic of madrassa students are from low income families. Such children should be provided with a secular education and be allowed to choose for themselves if they want to study Islamic Sciences after matriculation/10 class/O level/gcse. Islamic education should be provided at Gov Certified institute without a sectarian bias.

The Gov should make arabic mandatory from primary to secondary, so the future generation can directly understand the Islamic literature of 1400 years, without the filter of a sectarian molvi.

Or instead of making them learn another foreign language, give them federally approved urdu/english/provincial language translations. Their Islamiat syllabus should be government approved and only consist of clear teachings of the Quran, essential concepts like the five pillars, and the history of Islam till the Prophet's death.

Translation isn't enough. You can't translate 1400 years of material . Just as learning English is important for our worldly needs, learning Arabic is important for our religious needs. The Molvi class will be completely eradicated if the populace understands Arabic, it may even start a movement of Islamic revivalism. Every child wont grow up to be an Islamic Scholar, however it's a must to ensure that once he grows up, his source of religious knowledge isn't a molvi or a translator.

As opposed to the doctrine of strategic depth ? I can't say which is worse but we don't have a good alternative.
