$17,000 Hatchback From Vietnam Rolls Out to Take on Ford and Toyota

17,000 Dollar for a hatchback? :o:
Even in country like Pakistan where cars are stupidly expensive beyond measure, You can get a Crossover SUV Honda BRV or a Mid ranged Sedan like Toyota Corolla in less then this.
Why Japan cars? Japanese are rich. They don’t need more money. there will be 12 different car and electric bike models on sales for all tastes :D

I must admit that Vin Group is really brave. Let's see @Viet for another 6 months whether this will be a successful investment or not. To be success regionally it should be success in Vietnam first, so the next 6 month will be crucial.

Im not so optimistic wt Vinfast cars. We maybe only can sell the cars in VN and Russia ( cos Vinfast car engines r German ones, so some Russian may like them )

Btw, good luck for our Vinfast even the boss is not so smart ( just good at manufacturing Noodle when he was in Ukraine)

Germany builds the most successful cars.
look at VF.
nearly 100 percent are of Germany´s technology. the art of building cars. the factories. the supplliers. the car models. the education system for trainees and workers. even the clothings of the workers are of Germany are employed. surprisingly many women. like in German car factories.

I think Vinfast electric bike Klara failed in VN market due to high price even when Klara quality is very good. Simple reason, VN ppl r still poor and dont like high price bikes. If they buy expensive bike, then they will buy Honda bikes instead cos Girl love expensive Honda bike like SH

So, I only can hope the car price should be acceptable or not so many ppl will buy

VF main markets will be overseas. Vietnam market is too small. The world is big enough. Germany exports almost all cars. So why should it be different in the case of Vietnam.

Everytime I look at Vietnam. I can't but appreciate how far they have come since the Vietnam war. A country that was destroyed by American forces, but the dedication and commitment of the regime and it's people helped it build Vietnam into what it is.

You have set the bar too low.

CLMV - Cambodia Laos Myanmar Vietnam are considered the laggards in ASEAN.

The development gap that persists has to be addressed. ASEAN's initiative for that purpose IAI has pumped in quite a lot of money and assistance.

As usual, Singapore and our Thai friends and allies pumped in the most funds. As expected.

Less developed countries grow faster.

Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia are all growing on par with Vietnam, if not faster.

This bumpkin is really dumb... Indonesia even made a passenger plane decades ago, and no one see any Indonesian member boasting about it here...

Nothing indigenous about that plane.

Not the avionics, not the landing gear, not the APU, not the engine, not even the propeller or whatever else you can think of.

The plane did not even sell (well enough).

Tens of countries have made (the exterior of) aeroplanes.

Even students can assemble some non-agile turboprop aeroplane.

Nothing is static forever. Singapore had been for almost of history a paradise for mosquitoes, China famous as a country of bicycles. Making jokes of Vietnam effort to make cars is rediculous.

Brace yourself for a big turn out in this thread boy. We got an incoming barrages from yet another spinoff character.

Why do you think I made fun of Vietnam?

I merely told our Pakistani friend a simple truth.

CLMV countries of ASEAN are indeed growing fast. Thanks to IAI Initiative for ASEAN Integration. Where SG and Thailand furnished the most funds, as usual. And ample nonfinancial assistance too.

We need CLMV countries to develop much like we need Indonesia, Malaysia and the whole of ASEAN to develop. It's better for us all.

My take is it's better to be humble and grit your teeth until you've finally made the grade.

Did you see me praising Indonesia just because there are a lot of Indonesian members here?

This forum does not reflect reality.

It reflects the Chinese/PRC tilted bias of Pakistani moderation team and it reflects the bragging ability of members from a select few countries.

My attempt was to rectify that imbalance, in whatever way I could.

No malice intended towards Vietnam.
