:-) Might as well make it a decent trip then. Would you happen to have some good photos of places that you would recommend?

That's upto where you are from. Most guys like to tour views they didn't experience in their own region. If you from Russia or north Europe, I would recommend tropical Hainan island, if from Newyork, it better to western countryside, specially our minority's villages, their interesting building and song and festivals, we also have desert and vast grassland, northeast winter games. I have no fotos, it's easy to search online, you know.

By the way, I almost forget one important recommend. China has 8 ancient capitals ( including Beijing ) during different dynasties. Every a past capital are worth a comprehensive tour.

I'll do some research. I'm just as interested in historical sites as scenic and cities. I'm from New Zealand, I did spent about 4 years working in Hong Kong and Macau, I managed to see a bit around Southern China. There is so much to take in around the entire nation, one lifetime wouldn't be enough.

Southern China has no ancient sites, where developed mainly in modern hundreds of years history.
When you are interested in historical sites / cities, you'd better go north and central China.
I help to search online the typical fotos of 8 ancient capitals.
Beijing, guess I don't need to introduce more, I omit its foto.
