CNN —
At least 15 people were killed and 40 others were injured Wednesday in a “terrorist attack” at the Shahcheragh Shrine in the city of Shiraz, southern Iran, according to state-run media and Iranian officials.
Two children were among the victims, according to state-run Press TV.
Iranian security forces have arrested two of the suspected attackers, and a manhunt is underway to capture the third assailant, state news said.
Nour News Agency, which is affiliated with Iran’s top security body, said the suspects were foreign nationals.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Wednesday evening is one of the busiest times for the shrine, reported the state-run IRNA, and eyewitnesses said an attacker was in a car before targeting worshippers at its entrance.
The governor of Fars province said that “the terrorist first targeted the servant and guard of the shrine, and intended to attack the congregational evening prayers, but one of the servants shut the door on him,” state news said quoting the governor.

“Loud screams were heard in the women’s section of the shrine at the time of adhan [the call for prayer] and suddenly an armed man was spotted with a Kalashnikov firing indiscriminately in the compound of the shrine,” an eyewitness told state media.
“After the initial burst of fire, the attacker went near the shrine and fired many rounds at those present at the scene,” the eyewitness added.
The attack took place on the same day that clashes broke out throughout Iran as thousands of people came to the burial site of Mahsa Amini in Saqqez, a city in the Kurdistan province, to mark 40 days since her death, semi-official Iranian state news agency ISNA said. It’s unclear if the attack was related to the protests.
Protests have swept through the Islamic Republic following the death of the 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian woman, who died on September 16 after being detained by “morality police” and taken to a “re-education center,” allegedly for not abiding by the country’s conservative dress code.

I said this In other threads

Similar to other nations In the middle East Iran has its ethnic and religious fault lines

The "opposition" isn't just Murtads and Monarchists who seem to think Iran will be some liberal paradise when they overthrow the Mullahs

The Kurds, Sunni Baloch, Azeri, Arabs (these groups may also have patriotic members also) may all jump on the protests but their is no united opposition, leader, policies or plan beyond let's creat havoc and fassad and here you have one of the consequences

Why the fvck does this diaspora degenerate put 'terrorist' in quotes? Who walks into a shrine, massacres innocent worshippers and isn't a terrorist? This is why it's increasingly hard to sympathise with westoids, they have no empathy. Just soulless insects consooming netflix and funko pops or w/e fvcking gimmick they're into atm.

I put money that Iranian opposition will find a way to call this a false flag to distract from riots, or even celebrate it because the worshippers were regime supporters or whatever inane conspiracy theory they can conjure up.

They r already celebrating, Iran should be harder from the beginning.

and security service should take every western liberal activist in custody , very serious. Any personal who have links with west and liberal mindset should be prosecuted.

For me liberalism is a form of terrorism.

Iran has many mossad agents within its agencies and organisations, better to rip them out first

There are a lot of salafi/wahabi roaches throughout southern Iran that need to be dealt with in the most brutal, extreme manner. Gather these degenerate roaches and make them disappear in special camps and do not allow freedom of degenerate subservice religions or sects.

Sacrilege of holy shrines will not be compensated except probe on trouble-maker origin

Tehran, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has extended condolences to the bereaved families of the deadly terrorist attack in Shiraz, noting that the inflicted loss to the families of the martyrs and desecrating holy shrines will not be compensated except probing into the trouble-maker’s origin as well as a firm and wise step taken in this regard.

fixed the title/

it shows our sad reality of mutual hatred that we spare no chance to express our sick mind on tragic news about those we hate for ideological or political reasons.

rest in peace to the dead.
protests or no protests there is no excuse for lax security which resulted in such tragic loss of life.
