$15 billion Saudi bailout likely

here we go again....the easy way out from our politicians....the proverbial begging bowl syndrome....NS and his govt. will not take the hard decisions by forcing the public sector companies to pay their electricity and gas bills, will not tax the traders community, will not tax the agriculturists/land owners who are squeezing this country dry, will not end the SRO culture of tax exemptions for NS's business 'cronies'. yes he will tax the salaried class.....pathetic state of affairs.....we know already that nothing is going to change even before NS has taken the oath as PM.

I have no problem in getting a proper bail out package or anything, but without the strings attached. We have some interests of our own.

You get this bailout package and then reap the rewards of it 10 years down the line when you have a Madrassa next to your home. Ask me how does it feel to have a Saudi madrassa right down the street...

Yesterday alot of TV programs were focused on foreign policy, they all said the same thing, peace and friendship is good, magr jaan nichawar nhn karni. We tend to go all out in our love. Take the example of India, when NS comes in, we suddenly think India is an angel and why the differences...while the reality is much different.

Same with KSA, they have been meddling before and with the money strings will be attached.

There are many other ways to get electricity, is nay baray waday kiay thay, kashkol tor dain gay, hum kisi say kuch nhn mangain gay, tax barhayen gay, har cheez ka solution mulk kay andar say nikalain gay...ab kia hua? Government isnt even sworn in and begging starts. You may call it a bail out package, I call it bribe.

1. i am not talking about KSA or the aims behind this bailout package.

2. I am more concerned over Nawaz's short term solution to power cuts. And in my opinion this is not the soultion because

lets check that on election day they have provided 11 billion rupees, for smooth supply of power and few days back they have provided 15 billion rupees for the same. The result is that there was Less power cut in Punjab BUT other provinces suffered more than 21 hours daily including us in KP.

As i said circular debt is a must to clear but taking loan for that is NOT the solution.

divert money from road taxes, from ECP money which they are taking from parties for verification of each vote.

there are other such small temp money diversions.

oh by the way NS said he also will take money from IMF which means increase in power tarrif further and common man will suffer

In a world of diplomacy nothing free, everything string attached. Pakistan cash strapped, Corruption is at it's peak in Wapda, Ministry of water and electricity, NTDC, bureaucracy and in every department which has a role in reducing the load shedding, so money will be wasted in short term if we ourselves take an initiative and pour money in power sector. Oh btw I remember PPP last year said they injected around 1 trillion ruppess in power sector in first 3 years but performance ratio was near to zero, meaning our resources wasted either due to corruption or either due inefficiency.

So realistically speaking, in short term, we are not capable to reduce power cuts due to inefficient and corrupt system and there is no second way through which we can do it our selves or convince others to help Pakistan without any strings attached and there is no third way any country would help Pakistan without strings attached

If there is any fourth way to solve this problem, I would like to hear it

you my friend cannot keep self-respect, integrity out of this... if you feel that it should be kept out, then we will discuss how a man should learn to catch a fish, then to borrow a fish for food !

If it is about self respect and integrity, then face the brunt of 12-14 hours load shedding throughout this summer and never complain to government why didn;t they reduced or tried to take steps to reduce load shedding, because we the cash strapped nation can not do it ourselves. As they said in past, we could live by eating grass, but problem is grass is out of stock too

That's a medium term solution, not a short term solution ( 3 months of hell)

Not that i am being un-thankful to the countries giving aid to Pakistan and helping it out again and again and again, but 60+ years and we are being given aid and what the common man gets is peanuts if he somehow gets something from it. The standard of living of the common man now is the same that was in 40s and 50s if not worse, same goes for education and health and access to electricity and clean water transportation etc.

I wish we don't get any aid anymore to force the people to revolt against the politicians and throw them out if they somehow get fed-up with them and say enough is enough and if they don't want to revolt let them enjoy their so called leaders and the democracy in place and the great standard of living they have are being provided which is centuries old.

This is the only way that can bring people to the streets and bring the revolt of the people against the politicians and their so called democracy which is light years far from democracy.

I am quite confident in saying that the status quo will win in Pakistan every time, no matter who takes the reins of government, because we only change some faces, and not the cabals holding the real power.

I think its a really good proposal from saudis, good for both sides.

Please save the nation dignity and stop begging to IMF, WB and Saudis.
The Arabs are our friends but in politics all financial assistance comes at a cost.
Say NO TO AID!!

Slave mentality, get it rid of it before Pakistan becomes AL bhakistan

Rightly said..PMLN is just a dalal of Pakistan....Shipping crude does not provide permenant and long term solutions unlike IPI and TAPI pipelines. Infact it is likely to breed more mullahs and talibans...shame on PMLN!

The next dictator should hang all of these shameless creatures we like to elect as our leaders.

... and you're going to spend all your life savings to provide 24 hour electricity to your village without any load shedding?

Leader seems to be angry as they didn't or wouldn't have offered similar package for PTI

Don't worry, if we are able to get 15 billion dollars (if true but i think it is very unlikely news/rumour). This 15 billion dollars can solve so many problems of Pakistan. Think out of the box by not having any allegiance with the political party. You are in danger, you have extremely low growth rate in economy, you have a big chunk of industry shut, you have unemployment etc. One electricity can drive the so many wheels on... and you might have the industrial circle running again, decrease in unemployment meaning father will be able to bear the cost of his child's education fee, you have higher export, cheaper electricity as compared to generators etc...

So on...

By the time it is 2018, you might have few problems resolved if not many. It's a loan so we will have to return it back to them... But 3 years of deferred payment is something unbelievable right now. If you have madrissah's promoting violance it's your fault... Shut them up.. if Saudi's make a issue out of it.. lets face it... but so far we haven't done anything against it a part from babbling about it.

Electricity can solve so many problems of Pakistan, from higher growth rate to education and health and larger tax collection to basic problems of our country.

So Pakistan makes me feel ashamed once more, this means more Saudi interference in Pakistan, more money for Anti-Shia Terro groups, more madrassas more killings but I hope not
I can only hope this would be the last time

Large political delegations taken to Saudi Arabia by the PPP government were cold-shouldered, an official said, adding that warming up of diplomatic relations with Iran and the UAE and cancellation of hunting facilities for Saudi royals had also annoyed the kingdom.

Can someone shed some light on this?
@Yzd Khalifa

Your help would be appreciated. :)
