14-year-old from China to make US Open history

.
After 15 holes in the US Open at Olympic Club in San Francisco, Andy Zhang has a +8, tie for 75th, which is exceptional good for a 14 year old but mediocre to the field and he needs to play a little better tomorrow in order to make the cut. Many players are still on the field.

A relative unknown, 27 year old American Michael Thompson, leads the field at -4. Tiger Woods finished the first round with a very good game at -1 and ties for second, look out!

The fairways of the Lake Course are very narrow, surround with tall trees and high roughs, birdies are very hard to come by especially in the US opens. Any minus score can win the tournament.

I think being young, he was overwhelmed by the situation as he had triple and double bogey in the first 2 holes - that itself is +5. Otherwise his score is pretty decent. He should be playing a little better tomorrow.

Indeed he played a decent game after those 2 horrible holes. No bad lucks tomorrow that's all we can ask.

Chinese are a very strong and good people. When Pakistanis praise china, we feel our brothers are getting respect. Salaam.

what about when you always wish the worst on America( every time bar none here) and yet live within its bosoms cup in hand, what kind of feeling should the rest of us Americans have for you? * slam* or Salam?

sorry but i dont want any chinese golfer to win any big event.

if one starts winning, golf courses all over china will start to pop up.
there are over 600 golf courses illegally operating in china already.

they steal land from farmers and use enormous amounts of water.
china's food security is thus under risk and have to import and water is in shortage for the population due to wastage in watering the greens in the golf course.

golf courses also take massive amounts of space and china is already struggling with lack of space. last thing we need is more golf courses.

golf should be banned in china and all the 600 illegal golf courses should be shut down and turned into farmland to help improve our food security. it will also help the water shortage issue.

golf must be fully discouraged in china.

It's over!

Andy Zhang, a 14 year old phenom from China scores +6 through 15 holes today and puts him +15 so far. He'll definitely miss the cut of +8 in order to qualify for the weekend. As a whole he played sub par on pro level but nothing to be ashamed of consider his age and experiences.

Have a nice summer vocation, Andy! (Tiger shares the lead after 16, back later)

.
After 2 days Tiger woods shares the US Open lead with two American veterans, Jim Furyk and David Toms, at -1. Michael Thompson, the first round leader at -4, had a rough day and falls back 2 behind the leaders. Tiger will be in the final pairing tomorrow (been a while), where he usually thrives by intimidating and challenging his opponents with boldest shots to the fairways and greens.

Good luck to all.

.
American Webb Simpson came from behind to win the US Open by 1 stroke with a score of 281(+1). The second round leader, Tiger wood, faltered in the last 2 rounds and finished at 287(+7) and tie for 21st. Andy Zhang, the 14 year old Chinese phenom, missed the cut at +17 for 2 games.

As many US Opens no one has a minus score!

.
Another 14 year old Chinese golfing phenom qualifies for another US premier tournament, The Masters. Guan Tianlang, a home grown talent this time around, is going to join the world's best golf in Augusta Georgia next spring to play what's to be the second most prestige golf event in America after the US Open in which another 14 year old Chinese, Andy Zhang, was qualified and played well earlier this year..

Chinese 14-year-old earns ticket to U.S. Masters

Reuters) - Guan Tianlang is poised to become the youngest golfer to play at the U.S. Masters after the Chinese 14-year-old won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Thailand on Sunday.

Teenage hot-shot Guan earned an invitation to the 2013 Masters at Augusta after firing an even-par 71 to win by one stroke from Taiwan's Pan Chung-Tseng at Amata Spring Country Club.

Pan shot a final-round 65 but Guan hung on to claim a memorable victory with a 15-under total of 269.

Australia's Oliver Goss, who finished third a further shot adrift, told AAP that Guan was "too young to be intimidated."

When Guan tees it up at Augusta in April he will beat the previous record set by Italy's Matteo Manassero, who was 16 when he played at the year's first major in 2010.

Guan is quickly establishing himself as Asia's latest golf sensation, becoming the youngest player to compete at a European Tour event at the China Open earlier this year.

Japan's Ryo Ishikawa and South Korean Noh Seung-yul both burst onto the scene while still at school, blazing a trail for the next generation of Asian golfers.

Ishikawa, 21, has nine Japanese Tour wins to his name, his first coming as a 15-year-old, while Noh, also 21, captured a European Tour title at the co-sanctioned Malaysian Open in 2010.
