Valentines day doesn't hold much importance for me, we 've more important days to celebrate like the first time we met etc. Valentines day is special for some and I don't object to celebrating it. If wishing a happy valentines day brings a smile on somebody's face then that makes me happy too.

i think v-day, in india at least, is more of a competition among young males.

i meant a superficial competition among males to show off to other males... just like how the latest cell phone is a "must have".

how many of these v-day males have the courage to be obsessed over one female and get her at all costs??

these males can't get themselves to drop-out from college, how will they do higher things in life??

did they even talk of forming protection groups to act against the ram sena types who had threatened violence??

What competition is most appropriate? Who can spend the most money on frivolous, but expensive gift? The best presentation? A fight to the death? Healthy may not apply in this circumstance... perhaps only to see who among the insane is most stable.

The only winner in that world is those that chose to stay away. The men lose on every front - especially in the financial stability department, the women gets to spend that day being chased by desperate men.

I'm so glad I don't have to spend Valentines Day doing this anymore.

Just a suggestion: Never spend money on a girl who is very materialistic (as in one who loves expensive gifts), she would ditch you for someone richer.

you are correct and i am not a total villain... the issue is that she seems reluctant because of two reasons, (a). she is catholic and i am muslim, (b). she is in her 20's and i in my 30's... otherwise she seems to have rather enjoyed the attention from me.

so how else should i go about it except be in radical politics and arrange circumstances so that she takes me eventually.

If she is reluctant she probably doesn't want to be with you. Sorry to be harsh. And why are you fixated on one woman? If she is not interested then move on.
