ISLAMABAD -- At least 12 militants were killed and eight others injured on Thursday morning in a suicide attack in Pakistan's northwestern district of Hangu, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the central building of a militant group Mullah Nabi Hanfi in Tul area of Hangu district.

Intensive firing was also heard in the area after the suicide bomb attack that killed 12 militants and injured eight others.

There was no news about whether the leader of militant group was dead in the attack or not.

No official rescue services were offered as the exact location of the militants' center was unknown.

The intensity of the blast was so high that the blast was heard many miles away and it also jolted the buildings in the nearby residential areas.

Local media, quoting some officials, said the intensity of the blast showed that over 500 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.

In the past, a number of fierce clashes had been observed between different militant groups in the northwestern restive regions of the country. Militant groups have been attacking each other with suicide attacks to kill their opponent leaders and to show their dominance or to capture areas under the control of their rival groups.

HANGU: A suicide bomber ran a vehicle full of explosives into the headquarters of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Mullah Nabi Hanfi group in the Spin Tall region of Hangu, Express News reported on Thursday.

The blast killed 15 of the group’s members and injured several others.The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.The headquarters building collapsed due to the explosion and the compound was badly destroyed.

Mullah Nabi Hanfi was a commander of the Hangu chapter of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) before switching sides and joining the government’s counter-insurgency efforts. Nabi had said earlier that his group was on TTP’s hit list since the latter wanted to seize control of Hangu, Kohat, Orakzai and parts of the Kurram Agency.

Punitive attack on estranged TTP commander leaves 20 dead in Pakistan’s tribal area
Compound of an anti-Taliban militia commander in Hangu area of Pakistan’s restive tribal region was attacked with an explosive-laden vehicle killing 20 people and injuring 25. The vehicle was rammed into the building after two suicide attackers riding motorcycles were intercepted and killed. The attack took Spin Tall area.
According to sources, major target of the attack was Mullah Nabi Hanafi who was a part of terrorists outfit, TTP but had recently switched sides and was helping the government forces fight insurgency. The attack was apparently a punitive expedition against the estranged militant commander. He was also wanted by the authorities in connection with assassination of provincial lawmaker belonging to Imran Khan’s PTI.
According to sources, this was not the first punitive attack; TTP terrorists had launched an attack on his training facility in the past also. Today’s attack was so massive that the people in the neighborhood felt it like a power earthquake.
It was not immediately confirmed if Hanafi was among those killed in the attack.

Wtf is it with these suicide bombers in Pakistan? Is it something in the food or water which people consume in certain areas which makes them want to become self explosive fireworks? Incidents like these prove who is working against our peace objectives in the region. Incidents like these prove who poses a threat to the safety and security of the region. The terrorists have no shame in admitting that they will target anyone who opposes their ideology. It is safe to say that they are not leaving any stone unturned in their bid to destabilize the region. And this is not the first time they are boasting about their crimes. We’ve witnessed several attacks against the innocents that have been claimed by these terrorist organizations. The seriousness of the situation requires us to remain united against these terrorists.
