Census security teams are not armed for fighting such kind of attacks. And it was not expected that Afghans will stoop to such lows

i highly doubt about that, Pakistani military spokesman Asif Ghafoor already said in a statement Since April 30, Afghan Border Police had been creating hurdles in conduct of census in divided villages of Killi Luqman and Killi Jahangir in Chaman area, on Pakistani side of the border," so whatever we are listening today it was taking place since 30th april but todays fatality make it worst.

Yaar when I was in Bajaur we also had a case like this, one day out of nowhere these Afghans crossed the border took two small border pickets, beat the guys manning them, set fire to their vehicles and said that it was their territory. Our Commandant simply turned the 155s at HQ towards the post and said, "pahar barabar kardo".

Within minutes the Americans called for a border flag meeting. They pulled out a GPS and said, this is inside Afghan territory according to the GPS. Our Commandant simply said that the Govt tells him where the boundary is, not some GPS, he said "if the govt tells me that our border is at Kabul, I will march on Kabul".

The Americans had called Coalition Air Support because the 155s were still aimed at the mountain. The Commandant told them he has instructed his men to fire at the 30th minute. Americans thought it was a bluff, at the 29th minute the guns started training on the post and the Americans instructed the Afghans to withdraw to their own position.

So as you can see, the border is often subject to question along the Durand Line from the Afghan side. Best thing to do is to just hold your own and show these guys who's boss.

Hmmm that incident highlights the seriousness of the situation even more. The border needs to be marked. I will say that the ANA is very trigger happy. There is something seriously wrong with them. They initiated it at torkham as well.

Backed by artillery, Afghan security forces fired across the border on Pakistani census workers and troops escorting them, killing nine civilians and wounding 42, including women and children, Pakistani officials said Friday.

The Pakistani government and military officials said the artillery rounds were unprovoked but Afghan provincial officials claimed the Pakistanis fired first, wounding two Afghan policemen.

Friday's incident in the border town of Chaman in Pakistan's southwest Baluchistan province was the latest escalation between the two neighbors who share a volatile and porous boundary.

Pakistani army spokesman Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said the army shut the border crossing in Chaman in response to the early morning attack, blocking all movement of people and supplies to its landlocked neighbor.

Residents in the area said Pakistani and Afghan security personnel exchanged fire using light and heavy weapons.

"So far, we have received nine bodies. These civilians were killed as a result of the Afghan shelling," said Akhtar Mohammad, a doctor at the state-run hospital in Chaman. He said some of the wounded were in critical condition.

Finally, India and RAW have successfully misguided the Afghans to attack Pakistanis. Sounds dangerous but the matter should be resolved with dialogue.

The seven they have reported is misreporting. That was the civilian number of martyred that they reported as personal.

In every news agency its 9 civilians martyred with 40+ injured which includes 4 FC personal injured.

Afghan army according to raziq and afghan sources. 4 border police. 27+ injured amongst which 14 border police. They called for ceasefire and quite frankly I would trust spring onion. I have been here for many years and her information is very correct and on the ground.

I would also listen to the DGMO statements as well.

When the incident was happening it was reported that the border is between the village however the DGMO of both sides talked and the release states that the entire village is under pakistan side and ditch is not the border but the area between the villages is the border. Afghan DGMO agreed and stated that indeed they aggressed and were in the wrong.


I would stay clear of Afghan sources. When torkham happened they went crazy and both the afghan media and zakhilwal were saying that the gate is not being constructed at torkham but we both know that the gate is there bcz a ceremony was held.
