It's no secret that Samsung makes the best OLEDs for smartphones these days - its class-leading panels feature on Apple's new iPhone XS, XS Max and the company's own Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note9. As a result, the company holds about 95% of the markets share for small and mid-sized OLED panels. So the latest news about 11 employees working for a vendor on contract with Samsung disclosing technology secrets to a Chinese firm don't sound all too well.

South Korea is now looking into a case where 11 employees have sold Samsung's OLED manufacturing secrets to a Chinese company for about $14 million. Three of them are now arrested and await trial while the list includes the company's CEO too. They've set up a shell company to which they've sent all the insights.

The vendor's job was to produce automated equipment for Samsung's OLED panels, so it has plenty of information regarding the technology process. They sent over drawings and schematics of the panels. It appears to be all about the 3D Lamination technology for curved OLEDs.

It's a clear violation of a non-disclosure agreement and Samsung says it won't be letting this go. It took them about six years and millions of dollars worth of development and the company is keen to protect its secrets."

As a engineer , this makes me really mad.
Someone puts in years of ingenuity and sweat to invent something and its shamelessly stolen.
Its not about the money but in typical chinese style it will passed off as homegrown( like the siemens trains labled as HSR) technology.
I detest trump but in this i fully support any punitive action against such blatant thiefs.

. . .
LOL,Samsung themselves “hired” many Japanese technicians when they develope LCD industry in 90s, we just learn from them ,do what they did but not what they told you to do.

a Korean woman, lure second-top man for TSMC man at the time,
to marry him, make him to joint Samsung.

1. Violation of the second-top man for TSMC. He sign an agreement not work an competitor if he leave TSMC within 5-year, but he joint Samsung not long after.

2. he transfer company's classified technical paper out to the korean woman long time before he left TSMC.

3. This case was covered very detailed in Taiwan Island local news during the time.

So how does this justify more theft of IP by a third party from China? Two wrongs don't make a right.

in logical sense, or in math

- x - = +
or double negative equals positive.

you steal from some one, you got cough, you got punished

some one 'steal' from you, if you catch him, just sue him.
what's the big deal?

you don't have any morality high ground.
if you say him theft, yourself are theft too.

so you try to on behave of the shameless korean to accuse china shameless?

ON the same time, I accuse you shamelessly accuse china "shameless".
