Chapli Kababs are a popular dish made from mutton or beef, but we don’t seem to serve them enough on Eid, and that is why we put them on this list. While they are best served with fresh raita and hot nan, other ways to serve them include making chapli kabab sandwiches or using the kababs as burger patties for a localised version of a hamburger. Get the recipe here.

There is nothing more delicious than a plate full of your favourite biryani. So this year, when you serve biryani, don’t serve with it regular pieces of meat – make it interesting – give it a twist. Make your biryani rice and serve it with tikka chicken, fish or beef! It’s the best way to reinvent a classic dish, one of the most loved delicacies in South Asia. Here is how you do it!

Loaded with spices, paya is the most popular dish in South Asia. The best thing about paya is that not only is it served at dinner but sometimes also at breakfast. People from every province like to eat it differently; some dip the bread in the curry, some soak the bread in the curry and eat with a fork, and some make it with bread! Either way – it is divine. Juicy, tender and moist, this oven roasted tandoori chicken had us at tandoor. Not only is this easy to cook, it tastes absolutely amazing. The best part is, because of the way it is made, it is not too spicy and can be served with nan, rice or fries for children too! Get the recipe here.

It is said that galawati kabab is a royal dish. Now, this isn’t like any other regular kabad out there – smokey and fried – galawati kababs are unique mix of east and west. With a smokey western barbecue appeal to a tinge of local fry kabas, this qeema treat can be moulded into shapes for kababs and can even be filling for your samosas! Give this a short for your friends and family this Eid. Get the recipe here.

Food is great always!. Cant wait to get invited.

One comment, i dont like the taste of these commercial tandoor pastes. Very easy to make peri-peri which is better and can be made within minutes. if anyone's interested will post my receipe - peri-peri chicken works always. In cape province, malwa is normally made by the population.

Favourite is kalahari beef brisket - just thinly cut (make sure it is deep frozen or aged when getting your butcher to cut, marinade in rock salt, black pepper, a bit of garlic powder. Leave over night. Just braii on very very hot coals.

Instead of fry kebabs - alternative is to grind fresh hunted meat - we just did an impala a few weeks back - took some of the good meat and grinded it; added tad bit of ginger, fresh garlic, black pepper, salt; green coriander and freshly ground coriander seeds; make long skewers and i have a motorised contraption - made in a garage that spins 5 - 1m long metal skewer on the fire - 5 mins. Serve with fresh cut lemon to go over.

food is king always .... cant wait for the next eid - friends make huge pot of local style biryani.
