NEW DELHI: The United States has confimed to India that of the 23 most active terror email accounts operating in the Valley, 11 are functioning from Pakistan and four of these were created using mobile phones with Pakistan numbers.
Of the remaining, two were created in the US and two others, which show as having been created in India give Pakistani mobile numbers as their alternate contact.
This crucial information is part of a 78-page response by the US Department of Justice to a detailed request that Home Ministry had made to them under the Indo-US Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty since most servers are located in US jurisdiction. The response is to a compilation of requests New Delhi had sent between August 2014 and January 2015.
All these operatives are suspected Hizbul Mujahideen cadre and much of this information was collected during the probe of suspected HM front, the J&K Affectees Relief Trust. India has already taken up case of HM head Syed Salahuddin, who is in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, with the United Nations.
In line with the same policy, this data is now being thoroughly examined to identify these individuals so that an effort could be made to designate them terrorists in the UN as well as in the US and other major countries. At the Indian end, the National Investigation Agency is carrying out the probe.
The use of same Pakistani mobile numbers in the contact information is one aspect highlighted in the US report. "Investigation revealed that mobile number of Pakistan +923008550825 is alternate communication channels for both email IDs khadeksingh@yahoo.comandhsnane10muharam@yahoo.com.Besides the contents of the chats, India was also provided with the address books of these emails IDs."
Sample the contents in some of the email accounts:
April 15, 2014: abdul1452 @ GMAIL. com, belonging to one Abdul Rahim in Pakistan, sent an email to multiple recpients wuth the title "confidential army report on LET April 2014'. It attached a report with the message, "Yeh Indian Army ki confidential report hai hamare lashkar-e-toiba aur Mujahideen par. Jarur Dekhe aur Satark rahe. (This is the confidential report of army on LeT. Do see and be alert)."
November 15, 2010: Ibrahimcute @yahoo.co.in, email account of HM commander Ibrahim Chaowdhary records a message to Salahuddin, "As you are well aware that armed movement of 1990 took out thousands of youths from the valley who crossed the LOC for training purpose in AJK... we are very thankful to the institutions of pakistan who formulated a policy for these homeless and sourcesless souls wgho are being helped through their organizations."
October 21, 2010:qabeelahmed@yahoo.com, an email account used by the United Jihad Council, sent a message to undisclosed recepients under the subject 'Mission Kashmir'. It said, "Ummeed hay aap khairayat se hongay, absey humko milkar aik ho jana chaiya. Hum jitnay bhi sab allah k deen hain, ab humne Hindustan ko nestanabud kar dengay. Hum dikha dengay kay hum mai ketna zor hay (Hope all of you are well, all of us should come together to destroy India and show our might)"
August 11, 2012: A suspected militant Farrukh Mehar with email account mehar.farrukh6161 @ yahoo.com sent an email with subject line, "Yasin Bhatkal responsible for Pune case".
September 3, 2013: One shakeelgul47 @yahoo.comsent email with an attachment that had the subject line, "Analysis why Pakistan may have jettisoned Yasin bhatkal".
The US report details 139 such conversations, including of some email accounts that have been active since 2007. Some mails have also got Indian agencies worried like the one sent by HM militant mzafarkhan08 @ yahoo.com on December 26, 2013 with an attachment of a list of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails.
