BEIJING, Mar. 18 (Xinhua Finance) -- China will kick off more than 30 pilot smart manufacturing demonstration projects this year and will expand the scope of the pilot program in 2017 to promote effective experiences and modes across the nation, according to an announcement released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Wednesday.

The demonstration projects are aimed at forming a smart manufacturing system and a public services platform, according to the ministry. The projects also set the target of reducing operating cost by 20 percent, shortening product development period by 20 percent, raising production efficiency by 20 percent, lowering nonstandard product rate by 10 percent and enhancing energy use efficiency by 4 percent.

100m immigrants needed to save aging Chinese workforce

China must open its doors to up to 100 million young immigrants from Africa and Southeast Asia to address the country's aging workforce, according to a researcher with China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

Was the writer asleep this entire time???? What's the purpose of investing hundreds of billions in Pakistan? The idea behind investing into Pakistan was due to not bring in immigrants in the Chinese society, but rather use Pakistani labor force and outsource a big portion of manufacturing work to Pakistan (where youth below 18 has over 50% male population, and around 17 years of age average). This would be supplemented by the highways from the port to China, the Chinese goods being manufactured in China at a point in the future can easily be transported to China through road and the rail links, as well as ship to the outside world through Gawader or transport through rail and road to Iran and the Central Russian states / Russia. Pakistan's future is super bright, in the next three years, her economy will go on a vertical climb doing mach 1!!

I think China should open its doors to immigration, but knowing their internal workings, I don't think it will happen, not in the next two decades!!

Do guys here have some ideas how robots work in a German slaughter house? @Götterdämmerung
Some people here narrow the definition of robot into a Human-like Japanese servant who can say "Master, you are back home." @Nihonjin1051
Demographic dividend is a joke, only meaningful when they are at least a little educated on work ethics and when there is a good logistics system(so far, Southeast Asia is doing well). This bonus in China, when it comes to low value-added manufacturing, yes it is partially gone; when it comes to high-added manufacturing and the biggest consuming market around the world, China's demographic dividend has just begun!

Then what's the purpose of immigration? Like in Germany, immigrants take all jobs when a lot of Germans are at home?

So I have heard all of you, and I pretty much agree with many point of yours. Now listen to the essential logic here:

Robots and Technology is NOT the fundamental aspect of our Economy. It is still LABOR. Now, the productivity of that labor depends on education, training, technology, scientific progress, age, resources and work ethic.

Hence, with the evolution of robotics, the increase in productivity will be common denominator for everyone. Germany, US, Korea, can all use robots to increase productivity per labor.

Let's use GDP per capita as the measure for productivity.

Here, US = 55 000
Germany = 42 000
China = 8 000

Further, the work force in China has already started declining, that is people available for job have started declining.

Also, remember, it is a fact that you face problems once you grow rich.

Just see the United States here. Almost all the advances in science are done by very recent immigrants because US as well as all European Countries import skilled labor who can help in science.

Also, it is a misconception that locals lose job because of immigration. Locals lose job because they are couch potato and have grown reliant on entitlements and benefits, and don't have the required skills. Yes, some unskilled labor may not be desirable and may cause problems, but that is generally not the case.

Most of the countries abroad, in US and Europe don't have too much problem with Indians and Chinese. What they have problems with is many kinds of Muslims etc.

The growth in sciences among recent immigrants is due to the fact that the native population in the United States is generally unintelligent on a fundamental, genetic level. China importing stupid people is not going to advance Chinese science. Nor will importing lazy people improve Chinese productivity. China has many friends and partners that are full of smart, hardworking people ... but stealing those people is also bad for these countries. The net benefit will be zero, aside from a diplomatic gain.

There is no such thing, scientifically, and this is actually racism of some kind. Also, remember, the people you are using these terms for, their grand parents created the most powerful state of today ... aka the USA.

Next, there are many smart people in the world. To think that there aren't smart people outside is ignorance.

You sound exactly like the anti-immigration right wing people in the States.
