Feb 19, Colombo: Pakistan Wednesday handed over 100 Toyota Corolla (Altis) cars manufactured by Indus Motors Pakistan to the Sri Lankan Police and the Armed Forces.

In a ceremony held today at the Ministry of Defense and Urban Development, the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Colombo Major Genera (Retd.) Qasim Qureshi handed over the cars manufactured in Pakistan to the Chief Guest Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The Toyota Corrola (Altis) cars are manufactured by the Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC) which is a joint venture between the House of Habib, Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Japan for assembling, progressive manufacturing and marketing of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan since July 1, 1990.
The company was incorporated in Pakistan as a public limited company in December 1989 and started commercial production in May 1993. The shares of company are quoted on the stock exchanges of Pakistan.

IMC's 105 acres production facilities located at Port Bin Qasim Industrial Zone near Karachi is a manufacturing site where both Toyota and Daihatsu brands are being manufactured.

Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake and Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon were present at the occasion. The event was also witnessed by Ali Asghar Jamali and Ismail Ahmed Sethi of Indus Motors as well as Pakistani Defense Advisor Colonel Shaheryar Parvez Butt and Press Attaché Daud Ehtisham.

Yara, any idea on class of armor they are converted to? I need to convert few as well..... any approximate estimates?

Well in Pakistan many firms including HIT convert them into bullet proof.

Since they were handed over to the Police.I believe they might be modified to be bullet proof
