An old adage says:"There is no smoke without fire."

Do you know the difference between an adage and proof?

Well said! What would should expect if you keep delaying deal for years? If this deals doesn't go through it will put a dent on India's credibility as a serious buyer.

That's unlikely. It might sour relations with Dassault, and maybe to a slight extent with the French in defence co-operation in general, but the fact is that India will still be the world's biggest market for arms, for the next decade or so. This is not the only purchase India is making. India is buying big ticket items from all over the world, so one deal gone awry should not dent our credibility as a buyer. We ain't the biggest buyer for nothing!

This saga has been a travesty, to put it mildly. We will most probably end up getting one of the best fighters out there, but the fact is that this is the fulfillment of an urgent requirement articulated by the IAF in the year 2000. It will be at least 2016 before the first plane arrives. We should never do such a circus again.

India Agreement for Tokyo with the purchase of military aircraft
Tuesday, January 28, 2014 7:45 p.m.

NEW DELHI, Jan. 28 (Reuters) - Japan is close to an agreement with India to provide emergency amphibious aircraft, according to official Indian sources, while Tokyo aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation on funds tensions with China.

India would be willing to acquire 15 aircraft US-2i products by manufacturer ShinMaywa Industries for a total of at least $ 1.65 billion based on a price of about $ 110 million, according these sources.

"This is a strategic imperative for both parties and it was approved at the highest level by the two governments," said an Indian military source.

With this agreement, Japan would make its first export of military equipment from the embargo on arms sales that was imposed on itself in 1967 and it has eased in 2011. However it is a civilian version would be delivered, including private, according to another Indian military source, the friend-foe identification system.

The two countries had set up last May a joint working group to study the possible acquisition. It will meet in March to consider an assembly of equipment in India

In the field of combat aircraft, the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation has entered into exclusive negotiations with New Delhi in January 2012 to provide 126 Rafale, an estimated $ 15 billion (€ 11 billion) giant command still to be finalized. Around 17 Billion USD
including fighters and Weapon's package

Again no proof .
That's called distraction, which is often used when you don't have a proof or even an argument. :coffee:

Around 17 Billion USD
including fighters and Weapon's package

Sounds realistic, although weapons always will come in seperate deals and the weaponpack for IAF no matter if Rafale or EF would need to be evaluated seperately anyway, because it might include Israeli weapons too. I am pretty sure that IAF aims on integrated the same package that the upgraded Mirage 2000s uses to the Rafale too, which then would include SPICE 2000s and I have the feeling that we might not go for many or no AASMs at all, which also might depent on Israeli alternatives.

I dont know whether you remember or not, but When Sarkozy was the President of France, they were offering every conceivable weapon with the Rafale including the
ASMP-A Nuclear missile
and
SCALP EG Air Launched Cruise Missiles
Apart from the regular package of MICA, MBDA Meteor, Paveway III LGB, Exocet Ashm and Brimstone ATGM

Infact it was the Sarkozy Pitch allowing the use of Rafale for Nuke delivery that really convinced the IAF
Rafale Weapon's package alone is expected to cost around 3 Billion USD
