10 Turks detained for helping terror suspects fleeing China

and that pan-turkistan isnt BS? lol, you dont even have anywhere to begin with``your name Turk was given by the Chinese in the first place. We know it perfectly well where you lot coming from and where went

Xinjiang was never 'homeland' for Turkic people, Han's had their settlement in Xinjiang way back to 200BC, but your name ‘突厥’ only started to appear in any records around 6th AD`````lol
It should be no surprise some members on PDF suffer from cognitive dissonance, the Gok Turuks(ie the Tujue) look nothing like modern day Anatolian Turks and originated in the Eurasian Steppes.

Even if we assume modern day Uighurs are direct descedants of the Uighur Qaghanate, there are plenty of Indo European speakers that inhabited the region prior to Uighur settlement ie the Yuezhi.

The biggest irony is that the descendants of the conquered are pretending to be conquerors.

.
The fact that China has pointed out several times in the past the Turkish government/(certain) civil society support of Uighur terrorism and ISIS. It appears that the activities have not only been contained, but also increased.

Xinjiang terrorists finding training, support in Syria, Turkey

2013, July

From a foreign student studying in Istanbul to a soldier receiving training in Syria's Aleppo, to a terrorist plotting attacks in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, 23-year-old Memeti Aili said he felt like his dream was turned into a nightmare.

Memeti Aili was recently caught by the police when returning to Xinjiang to complete his mission to "carry out violent attack and improve fighting skills" assigned by the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM). ETIM is a terrorist group that aims to create an Islamist state in Xinjiang, which works alongside the East Turkistan Education and Solidarity Association (ETESA), an Istanbul-based exile group.

"After hearing their lectures, all I could think about was jihad and I totally abandoned my studies and my family," he told the police. "But thinking back, it was like a nightmare."

An anti-terrorism official told the Global Times in an exclusive interview that about 100 people like Memeti Aili had travelled to Syria to join the fighting alongside Syrian rebels since last year.

"Their purpose is to overcome their fears, improve their fighting skills and gain experience in carrying out terror attacks," according to the official who declined to be named.

Xinjiang, in China's far west, borders central Asia and is home to 10 million Uyghurs. It was rocked by two terror attacks that killed 35 people last week, just days ahead of the fourth anniversary of the July 5 riot in the capital Urumqi that left 197 people dead.

Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, led a work team to Urumqi after President Xi Jinping on Friday arranged measures to safeguard social stability.

"We will step up efforts to crack down on terrorist groups and extremist organizations while tracking down those wanted for these crimes," Yu was quoted by the Xinhua News Agency.

Unwelcome to battle

In 2011, after graduating from university in Urumqi, Memeti Aili went to study in Turkey like many other Muslim Uyghur students. Soon after settling down in Istanbul, someone from the ETESA approached and offered him "help."

A year later, after studying the lessons they provided, Memeti Aili was informed by ETESA and ETIM that he had been selected to travel to Syria to join the fighting.

Together with other young people, Memeti Aili travelled to Aleppo, the largest city located in northwestern Syria and arranged to join the rebels. The percentage of foreign fighters in Syria has reached up to 80 percent from 29 countries such as Libya, Turkey, Lebanon and Yemen, according to Omran Zoubi, Minister of Information in the Assad government.

Before arriving in Syria, Memeti Aili said he had never touched a gun.

Together these young people received seven days of training in the suburbs of Aleppo where there was no water or electricity supply, and food was scarce.

"We had to change sites four times a day in fear of possible bombings from the Syrian army, therefore we didn't learn that much during that week," he recalled.

During the training, he was shown how to shoot a gun and make bombs. But not all of them had the chance to practice and many just watched and hoped that something would sink in.

After this rushed training, Memeti Aili was assigned to join the Free Syrian Army (FSA), an armed opposition structure operating in Syria.

"We were running around Aleppo like madmen to avoid possible bombings and air attacks," said Memeti Aili, "We didn't see the Syrian army, but we saw the places where our guys got hit by bombs and died."

He helped to take the wounded to the local hospitals, but they were told only one hospital was still working and was frequently bombed. His comrades were left to die.

What surprised Memeti Aili the most was that foreign fighters were not really welcomed by locals.

"We thought that if we brought holy war into Syria we would be welcomed, but the fact is, we were told by the local people that we were not welcome as they didn't want their lifestyle to change," Memeti Aili said.

Most of the inexperienced fighters were killed due to inappropriate gear. Luckily for him, Memeti Aili was assigned to nighttime patrols instead of fighting in the front lines. Two months later he was sent back to Istanbul.

In a statement released on the groups's official website in 2012, the ETESA denied that any Uyghurs had traveled to Syria to join in the fighting and stated it was not associated with any terrorist organization.

"The Uyghurs have never participated in any terrorist activities or have never carried out any violent actions against anyone or any government," it said.

East Turkistan extremism

Speaking in the wake of terror attacks on April 23 in Xinjiang's Bachu town that killed 21 people, Meng Hongwei, vice minister of public security, said the fight was being influenced from overseas. He stated that East Turkistan "secessionist terrorists" had been intervening as the police had cracked down on Eastern Turkistan terrorism flags and home-made explosive devices.

"As the number of international terror attacks is increasing, we should remain vigilant against infiltrative, subversive and separatist activities by hostile forces at home and abroad," Meng was quoted by Xinhua as saying.

Ahmatniyaz Sidiq, an Uyghur man who allegedly has been organizing extremist activities since February, attacked a local government building and police station in Turpan last week together with 15 other people, according to the police.

The police said they had been listening to recordings of the men inciting violent terrorist activities, raising money and arranging to buy knives and gasoline earlier in June.

Chinese police have struck a heavy blow against ETIM in recent years, but ETIM still seems able to inspire members about the "three evil forces" of separatism, extremism and terrorism, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

Li Wei, an expert on anti-terrorism with the Chinese Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, told the Global Times that the recent terror attacks in Xinjiang showed that "East Turkistan secessionist terrorists had copied the international mode and used it in Xinjiang."

"For example, law enforcement personnel have become their main target, and instead of launching suicide attacks, they focus on training and recruiting new members and promoting their values," Li said.

Li said the attacks have exposed shortcomings in Xinjiang's counter-terrorism strategy such as placing too many police in big cities and the need for more modern equipment.

"We need to strengthen anti-terrorism training among township-level police. They also need to upgrade their equipment and encourage local residents to report suspicious behavior and reward them afterwards," Li continued.

Addressing a UN Security Council open debate on comprehensive approach to counter-terrorism in January, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai called for the international community to address its root causes.

"Such attacks are grave threats not only to China's national security but also to peace and stability in our neighborhood. The international community should fight these groups with unity of purpose and action," Cui was quoted by Xinhua as saying.

Sidebar: Syrian Ambassador on anti-terrorism

By Yang Jingjie

Global Times: There have been reports about terrorists from Xinjiang joining the conflict in Syria. Can you confirm that report?

Imad Moustapha: Our estimate is that there are around 30 Chinese involved. Our informant told us around 30 young Uyghur men went to Pakistan to receive military training and then went to Turkey.

We believe the reason they went to Turkey after training in Pakistan is to go to Syria.

Most probably, they are now fighting in the northern city of Aleppo but we're not sure about this.

What we know for sure is they were trained in Pakistan and then traveled to Turkey. Our informant who is based in one military camp in Pakistan told us there are 30 of them, but that doesn't mean there are not more of them.

GT: Did the Syrian army kill or capture any Xinjiang terrorists?

IM: Usually we do not publicize the information about those we captured in the media. We inform intelligence agencies in their respective countries.

GT: Is there any cooperation between Syria and China in dealing with extremists?

IM: We share everything we have with China. We are always willing to share everything that is in China's interests. We have told China many times that if those extremists, who are fighting today in Syria, end up winning, they will go on fighting in somewhere else like Iran.

If they win in Iran, they will not stop. They might end up fighting in Russia or in China.

This is not only a Syrian struggle. It's a struggle between the forces of secular countries and extreme fundamentalist Islamic ideology.

GT: The Chinese authorities have tightened security measures in Xinjiang in the wake of several riots last week. What is Syria's reaction to the current situation?

IM: First, we fully support the Chinese government in enforcing law and order throughout the country.

Second, we know more than anybody else how dangerous these individuals are. They use the pretext of religion to spread their extremist agenda that belongs in the Middle Ages and not today.

Third, we are absolutely confident that China has the strength and expertise to deal with these terrorist groups and we know that more and more Chinese understand the nature of the struggle in Syria against these groups. They are a common enemy to both our nations.

Definition of terrorism is not changes from country to country.

In fact, it does. It even changes for a country from time to time, based on geopolitical conjecture.

.
Then go ahead, we have even screwed Japan badly and made them suffered economically.

Do you think we would bother about Turkey?

Do you even sarcasm bro? No wonder why it is too hard to make you people understand things.

We don't treat the Turks who commit crime as the whole nation. But those behaviors of Turks in this forum reflect many other things.

Just watch out, Chinese members.

Through every post from the Turks above, you can see they even don't regret their ten countrymen commit crime for support terrorism. Not a bit.

On the contrary, they blame China and attack Chinese government. Obviously, they do support the separatism and terrorism in Xinjiang. You all can see this kind of brilliant logic from them.

To be realistic, we should go back to work and put your every effort to secure our homeland.
1. We should abandon any expectations from those losers, haters, hypocrasies and terrorism supporters. They will never change.
2. From this case, we should investigate it thoroughly to find out the channels and measures that terrorist used to get in/out to/from China.
3. Update the black list and track those suspects everywhere in China.
4. In the government level, we should pour more resources in the security area.
5. In the diplomatic area, we should keep certain distant from those countries who were suspected to support separatism and terrorism. We should also get those counter measures ready.
6. From the development view, we should carry on western development strategy steady and as fast as possible.

We should stop reading those nonsense posts and responding to those guys and go back to work!

Well said. The point of this thread has been to inform the readers of the development. In the first post, it has been clearly stated that the ten individuals have been suspects and been interrogated on charges of smuggling people from Xinjiang to join the lines of ISIS.

There has not been mention of any Turkish members, nor was any tagging.

They seemingly felt insulted, and instead of discussing the news article and the graveness of the issue (grave for their own national security, as well), they started the mindless "our kind," "our brethren" rhetoric.

It is up to other readers to see the fact that China (and the members from China here) only demands respect for its sovereignty while the Turkish members rejects the idea on the grounds of kinship and historical ownership.

Instead of condemning their own citizens for involving activities that might pertain to supporting international terrorism and worry about that, the Turkish members come close to supporting terrorism because of their historical hatred of China that, allegedly, occupies their historical lands.

China has been more prepared for these terrorists and their lovers than ever; hence their window of opportunity is narrowing.

What is really bothersome is not the fact that jihadists leave China, but the prospects of them returning.

For that, no excuse for complaining, but rock-hardening the national borders protection and internal security.

Then China should organize an international effort to free Kurds from the Turkish oppression.their trouble making in Syria and Iraq should be stopped, too.

China will just ignore the Turks and go its own way.

It is good to know that, on the issue of fighting terrorism and separatism, many civilized countries are on the same page, including the regional powerhouse, Iran.

The Turkish people don’t look favorably upon the U.S., or any other country, really | Pew Research Center

Lol, you kicked nothing. We ventured to Anatolia, because of the Mongols and Other Turkic tribes.

We might not be scientist, philosophers, diplomats....but we are superior warriors. That's why we conquered every other nation that stood on our way.

As a mullah boy, you are the last one to tell me about being civilized.
Now Chinese friends can understand what kind of people we Iranians are facing in PDF for years.thanks for providing example to us.

. . .
I wonder if you have slightest clue about what you just posted.

ol 16 empires each smaller than the one before it, we can all guess what the next empire will look like
Learn some history, pal. It might cover your ignorance.

Now Chinese friends can understand what kind of people we Iranians are facing in PDF for years.thanks for providing example to us.
:meeting:

Your butthurtness has no cure my mullah friend. Chinese can't provide you with a cure. You just let it go the fact that you have been ruled by the Turks.

If this is what your people think, tell me why non-turks (Kurds) should stay with you and dont seperate?you really hold a racist view about the Kurds.
They are part of the Turkish community. We are lived and fought shoulder to shoulder for centuries.

Racist one is you my friend. Everytime i write Iranian use capital letters, but you intentionally use small letter for Turk and Turkey whereas you use capital letters for everyone else. Says much about yourself.

.
Ten Turks have done dirty business in China and been caught. Hope they will be sentenced to death.
Turks here keep defending their criminal countrymen just for 'Turks have no friend other than Turks' is morally and intellectually stupid. They are so sensitive and unconfident. Let them be. That's all.

Where are the MODS? There are so many mad words here!

Mods are here. They are constantly deleting Chinese members posts whom swears at us.

@Sinan

We shouldn't have interrupted their circle jerk mate. It was quite amusing while it lasted.

A Chinese trying to bash Turkey by using the Korean War. How cool is that
Chinese posters are lame....In their little section they throw shıt on us. But never come into our section and say these things to our face. :)
Maybe it is cultural.....

@kollang teach them "Taqqiya" they will master it in no time. :D

Though, I like how the Farsi dude trying to involve in the circle the most.
Lol, he can't argue with us on 1vs1...so he is throwing some words and hide behind Chinese, most amusing. :)
