Just say life is not precious in this part of the world. id like to see you making this type of Statement on a British forum or an American one. They will think you're some loopy fellow.Got to say for a bunch of defence nerds, all of you are a lot of pussies, for fucks sake wars are brutal affairs. Just think of the world wars or the Vietnam war.
Every single loss of life is tragic for that person and his family and friends, but soldiers die, that is the sad but hard truth.
That is the price we pay to have a country, to all the armchair warriors, please join up and show the professionals how easy it is.

I remember in PK I was sitting with a family member, who was a senior officer. A video had just been published of Taliban playing soccer with the heads of our soldiers and he leaned over to show it to me in disgust. This person became angry, and laid into the lax attitude of PA in handling this situation in FATA (early years - Orakizai givernships day). He did not say things like this happens in war. He wanted retribution, a change in tactics, a change in leadership and he above all he wanted results. This man is a soldiers soldier, hard and good at soldiering. Doubt you could use the above adjective to describe him, and be accurate.
There is a difference between "crying at the losses", and "being angry with the losses". And I would further extend that and say those who are trying to express ideas to limit losses for our men while increase losses for the enemy are right by their argument and should not be belittled or demeaned.
I hope it will. I am not saying it wont. All I am saying and now repeating, is identifying methods to improve tactics to reduce our losses is not being a "pus*y". It is being prudent and realistic, and there is nothing wrong with it. Being calm, analyzing the situation, the environment, changing and improving tactics, learning from failures - is part of a healthy learning process. As is holding people accountable for their poor performance and failure and not hiding behind false bravado and the "shaheed" badge. And what makes you think that this incident will not be repaid with interest.
