4 Reasons Why You Should Never Skip Breakfast

People who eat breakfast tend to have a lower risk of certain health conditions.

But the evidence that suggests that breakfast is a meal not-to-be-skipped is overwhelming. In fact, I have never encountered a study that suggests the opposite.

Here a look at some of the research showing the possible benefits of breakfast:

Diabetes: Skipping breakfast may increase a woman's diabetes risk, according to a study published this month in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Women who ate breakfast an average of zero to six times per week were at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes than women who ate breakfast every day. Heart Disease: Eating breakfast was associated with a lower incidence of heart disease in men between ages 45 and 82, according to a July study in the journal Circulation. The study also found that skipping breakfast was associated with hypertension, insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels.

Memory: A 2005 Journal of the American Dietetic Association review of 47 breakfast-related studies found that eating breakfast is likely to improve cognitive function related to memory and test grades. Translation: Eating breakfast is a smart move!

Weight Loss: In one recent study, people who ate breakfast as their largest meal lost an average of 17.8 pounds over three months. The other participants consumed the same number of total calories per day, but ate most of their calories at dinner, according to the study published in July in the journal Obesity. The large-dinner group only lost an average of 7.3 pounds each over the same time period.

I live by eat healthy (heavy) and exercise. I had to ate gora breakfast for 5 years in mess without much option. They love to eat bacon and ham omelette in the morning. F**k the gora food. All those people complaining about cholesterol and fat, need to get gym or sports club membership. Desi are very much lazy people.

OLIVE OIL for parathas? Hmmm. Food for thought. Never tried that combination.

I'm trying that Tuesday. Trying means making the batter through Monday, and trying out the results on a non-stick which I've saved up for this on Tuesday. There's an alternative cast-iron tawa, which I would also like to break in. Let's see.

The original French saying was, "Break fast like a pauper, lunch like a prince, dine like a king. I do the exact opposite.

Same goes with me. Exact opposite.

:o: nihari for breakfast ? well, maybe after a night of drinking.

also, murg-choley sounds interesting but I wouldn't call a lot of stuff on that list 'breakfast'.

parathas etc are great but gora breakfast wins, eggs, toast, sausage/bacon, beans, juice/coffee..

<groan> Flury's.

Don't.

Please, please, please...stop it. I beg you, on folded knee.

Hi joe..

Tired of flury's ? lol.. try some if these new places for a good english breakfast in Cal..

try Edesia in minto park .. and if you want to try french breakfast.. try this new place that has come up in Hindustan park ( near southern avenue) called La maion Des Delices... I keep trying new eating places and found these two worthy... food in the latter one is a bit on the higher side though.

Great.

I am surprised; hadn't heard of them, but then I've been away for nearly two years now. Will definitely try them next time I'm there. You have been to The Owls on Purna Das Road, I presume? That's pretty good too. And Mrs. Magpie on the other side of the next block for tea and stuff, especially cupcakes (I'm not a cupcake person :-( ). Both frightfully good.

Yes I have been there.. the full name is Wise Owl and they have just expanded I guess...I like the ambience there .. they got some good eating options.. they highlight their steak as their signature dish, but I dont find it that great.. in fact if you are a steak fan, then you must visit The steak factory which is not very far from there. the owner was a chef somewhre in the states himself and the steaks are just perfect. And Mrs. magpie's too.. they got some good cupcakes, not a frequent visitor but I have been there for some business purpose :)

The full-scope combined continental and Bengali restaurant on the same side of the road but closer to Gol Park is truly superior. I forget the name, but the few times I've been there, I've really enjoyed the food. It's just right in every way. You can't miss it; it's quite prominent, although never very crowded.

I meant olive cooking oil. Its bit expensive compare to others cooking oil but i could digest paratha easily when made of olive oil

I suppose you are right. I uniformly use pomace for cooking anything continental, and sprinkle extra virgin on salads. But in Indian cooking, I've shifted to Rice Bran Oil, with some ghee for tadka and some mustard oil for Bengali food. That kind of covers oils, except for cooking butter; I don't use table butter at all.

How did the parathas taste?

good. never tried rice bran oil
well taste was fine and was not too heavy on stomach which was the main reason of using this oil ..i love to had paraths with topping of desi ghee on it when i was teen and taste was so good that you could eat this prtha of desi ghee just with tea but you were doing games/running and all sort of physical stuff during teen age so even desi ghee was easy to digest so fats was not issue
