$1.6bn Chinese soft loan for elevated Monorail in Lahore

tnubJnX.png

lahore is the 2nd most populous city in the country -- If such a program was to start in a city in not in the top15 most populous cities of pakistan, then it would have raised eyebrows
Ye 1998 ki census leke kia kr rahe ho koi 2012 wali nahi mili. Anyway Lahore is second biggest city of Pakistan, and any development is good development.

Don't know the render of stations now but this is one that was proposed by MVA Asia and Systra France in 2008

Getting loan from China FOR JUST LAHORE and collecting Money for return loan from ALL OVER PAKISTAN... kamaal hey is ** ganja hakoomat ki

Indeed, it's unfair for people of other parts of Pakistan. But I think a major big city with great influence of economy could help its surrounding area, if you distribute this 1.6 billion equally to all the country, nothing could be done. It's a better choice to build a few strong cities first, it could attract more projects, labor forces and consumers.

In China, the same situation.

Sharif was presiding over a meeting of senior officers. He reviewed the feasibility for the monorail project. Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khwaja Ahmed Hassaan, Metro Bus Authority Managing Director Sibtain Fazal Haleem, the Planning and Development chairman, the National Engineering Services Pakistan managing director and the Lahore Development Authority director general were also present. Sharif said the project would provide speedy and comfortable transport facilities to thousands of citizens. 1.4 Billion wasted on Train in 1 city only is , extreme waste of resuorces and funds

Focus should be on Pakistan Railways , that 1.4 Billion dollars would have given Pakistan Railways 800-900 engines enough to move 20 Million people annually generating Millions in revenue for Economy

The local city level projects should be undertaken by local city authorities from allocated budget.

Financing from International lenders should be for National Assets first like PIA or Pakistan Railways

Cost of Locomotives in International Market 2 Milion per unit for 1.6 Billion dollars you get 800 Locomotives

1587.1082859900.jpg

800 new locomotives would last 30 years, and you can use 3 engines from these purchase to run local Train services in city like Lahore / Karachi

1.6 Locomotives would help purchase of brand new units from USA : 800 Units

Pakistan Railways Passenger Operations : 600 Units
Pakistan Railways Freight Operation : 100 Units

Circular Railway Operations: City Wide Operations Circular Railways Project
100 Locomotives would be allocated for City Operations for Mega Cities of Pakistan

Local Pakistan Engineering firms given contract for Rail Road construction work and 20 Locomotives assigned per city

Between 6 am - 9 am , Trains run thru every 15 Minutes
So 12 Trains pass thru stations . Then 1 Train every 2 hour untill 5 pm

Then 5:00 pm - 9 pm (Night) 12 Trains run thru each station every 15 min

Investment lasts for 30 Years!!
  • 20 Locomotives Karachi
  • 20 Locomotives Lahore
  • 20 Locomotives Islamabad/Rawalpindi
  • 20 Locomotives Pishawar
  • 20 Locomotives Quetta
Impact of the Investment "HUGE"

All Cities of Pakistan would get consitent quality Circular railway projects

The economies that have Trillion dollar profits , like Saudia or UK or Germany etc they can afford to invest in technology like Monorail or city based approaches.

For Pakistan the best approach is run "Train Service" in local cities infact Pakistan had a Circular Railway in Karachi before not many folks know about it

City wide Train Service example in Canada
Double Decker Train to take commuter to Down Town

Mono rail is just a cosmetic word with big price tag ... practical affordable solution is a "SAME train " system with new engines and double decker boggies

GO Train Canada carried 65 million passengers in 2012

GO Transit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Conclusion:
You can have a great platform for transporting Passengers daily with normal Train system as proven by Transit system in Canada with out Mono Rail price Tag

Ranked #15 Best cities to live in The world’s 15 best places to live - world's top cities - MSN Money

Railways is ideal solution for Pakistan from Cost prespective and available Man power in Pakistan

1.6 Billion would buy brand new units from USA : 800 Units

Inter City Travel Needs:
Pakistan Railways Passenger Operations : 600 Units
Pakistan Railways Freight Operation : 100 Units

Local City Transit Projects:
  • 20 Locomotives Karachi
  • 20 Locomotives Lahore
  • 20 Locomotives Islamabad/Rawalpindi
  • 20 Locomotives Pishawar
  • 20 Locomotives Quetta
Commitment from Government of Pakistan : Create the rail roads inner city areas

I live in Toronto and tell you what, the public transit here sucks. The Govt spends heavy amount on Roads and Highways and when they are asked to invest in Subways, they make excuses like 'oh we don't have enough money'. The Go Trains are useless as most people here prefer driving cars. The system is only meant to connect cities. Its like a mini version of national railway line if you will. Plus the system is not pedestrian friendly. If you want to use that system, you literally have to drive to get there. Compared to other systems around the world, its a laughing stock and i'm sure the cost to built it must have been at least a billion

Unlike Canada, Pakistan has a population of 190 Million people. Cities like Lahore and Karachi have between 10-20 Million people respectively. We simply cannot ignore efficient, high capacity, high speed, and intercity public transit systems.

Cost is not an issue. Think long term, not short term, and those loans that we seek from friendly countries are almost grants They would not charge anything above 1% interest. Still can't afford that ? Well look for an investor for BoT, there are so many ways....

It is embarrassing that while some of our people are busy criticizing and making alternative solutions, a sanctioned country like Iran is building underground systems in their cities. Moreover, small countries like Egypt, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Panama, North Korea, Columbia, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Uzbekistan and Ecuador are ahead of us and they are not trillion dollar economies.

I could be wrong, since I'm not aware of the intricacies of Lahore, but when one is building a mass transit system, three things definitely drive up the cost:

1) Land compensation - to people on whose land you will be taking over
2) Natural geographical hindrances like building tunnels and bridges over water.
3) Black money.
