How do you Chinese view the rapid development of the past 35 years?

Part of our obsession with high rise buildings is due to historical reasons. When China just opened up, we saw in awe some of the pictures coming in from America and Japan filled with tall buildings. Most of us learned the word "skyscraper" from our English textbooks. To certain degree the...

How do you Chinese view the rapid development of the past 35 years?

Funny your preach for democracy starts out with "Hats off to the Party". But I forgive you. Old habit dies hard. Agree with everything else you said:cheers:

China is killing it on this chart of the world's biggest metro systems

Since we have to start from somewhere, Beijing and Shanghai are the obviously choices. We have to admit though, we cannot compete with Taiwan in this aspect. Taiwan is a democracy, they make everybody happy over there, on every decision they make, 365 days a year :toast_sign:

China has a prototype 500km per hour high-speed train | China Daily

Agreed! I was just thinking along the line of speed gain vs. safety and cost. Upgrading from the regular 80 km/h to 320 km/h, shrinking travel time by a factor 4 is a big deal. It is definitely worth doing. But going from 320 km/h to 500 km/h is less attractive if the cost more than doubles...

TPP failure would cost the US trade dominance

Who is "we"? Can "you" personally vote Harper out? No? What difference does it make? What's the big whopping deal? Let me know when you can "vote" your real boss out. Yes, your real boss, the one who pays you.

China has a prototype 500km per hour high-speed train | China Daily

500 km/h? I'm curious what technology they are using and at what cost. At this speed the wheels and the rails may get overheated, especially in break situations. So my guess is some kind of levitation has to be used. But our current Shanghai Maglev only tops at 430 km/h. Unless there is...

China commits $45.6 billion for economic corridor with Pakistan

True. But Pakistan being a good friend of China also has a lot to do with it. There is a lot of (mutual) trust in this deal. You don't see China putting $45 billion in Vietnam, do you?

All races are different: Racial realism

Funny you mentioned the race of the OP. He may be a Chinese. But he is just a small time amateur in this area. You know how a Caucasian White guy would go about it? He'll collect data, do analysis, create fancy terms and write "scientific" reports to "prove" that certain people are of lower...

All races are different: Racial realism

Does the picture look familiar? Year after year, match after match, you see the same thing in this event: total domination by black people. Now you are going to tell me this is all the results of hard work, smart training and genetics has nothing to do with it? Clearly genetics differences do...

    China anti satellite space weapons

Creating media hype?I It takes one to know one I guess. But they are just so dumb that even amateurs like you can figure out, huh? I believe you read it somewhere. But who ever wrote that garbage has not even the most basic idea of the space science. Locating and predicting the movement...

    China anti satellite space weapons

You are reaching there mate! How do you know that? You might as well just claim the satellite was pre-programed to be hit. What's the purpose of doing a self cheating test? But you are right that kinetic anti satellite weapon technology is far from mature. The problem is not about...

    China anti satellite space weapons

Well, if you are referring that incidence of testing. That's just detail. Could it have been done better? Probably. I guess we could've tested/demonstrated such capability without actually destroying an object in space. But, asymmetric war fare is a Chinese national strategy. Anti satellite...

    China anti satellite space weapons

If you don't want anti satellite weapons to make a mess in space, then don't build any satellite weapons. No satellite guided military actions, no satellite surveillance, no satellite spies. Are we talking utopia? If nobody will do war against us, then you are the one with paranoia.

    China anti satellite space weapons

So, by your logic, we should protect the space and let ourselves be destroyed. Mind you, the mighty GPS guided weapons do not just destroy ships, they can bomb the country of China "back to stone age" (you may google the cliche as is). That'll take us thousands of years to catch up...

    China anti satellite space weapons

Satellites are used to guide missiles, ship and war planes. They are already used as weapons. Why do you single out anti satellite weapons?
