Same in Turkey tbh. if you're politically connected you will serve in the most comfortable positions possible. Unfortunately Turkey is walking in Russia's footsteps in a lot of aspects.
They prioritized a lot of wrong things but ultimately, without fixing the underlying issue of corruption and mafia-state, all efforts will be fruitless. Turkey should pay attention and beware. We're making a lot of the same mistakes Russia made.
By now you must realize that even Russia has its limits and the force that had so much trouble in Ukraine would have huge problems against Turkey and Azerbaijan's combined forces. That war could possibly draw in Georgia too which could see 2008's lost territorries retaken. Fortunately it didn't...
It's not a music contest, it has to have a chant that excites the spirits of the soldiers or sailors. You may not get it as you don't speak Turkish well enough. But here's another example. Another one of my favorites
"We are offsprings of a race that creates lightnings" kind of blows gay...
Yeah makes sense to command the fleet from a ship that will stay relatively safe
what a fucking terrible march.
"Yavuz geliyor" will remain my favorite.
F-35 with %40 combat readiness is better than F-16 with %80 combat readiness in my opinion. Same with domestic ammo supplies.
It's nice but we're a generation behind. That matters a lot. That's why we're not talking about Mavi Vatan anymore. Our hand is weak.
You could be right about time...
We used to be the best in the region 10 years ago. Now Israel got F35s and Greece is getting F35s in 2024.
We're a generation behind
Everybody acts like this is no big deal. It's a huge deal.
We don't have a response for Rafale, let alone F-35
It's not even a matter of believing the official estimates
We can't cover the whole of Turkey with SAMs, it is foolish to even attempt.
Offense is the best defense.
I would much rather have the situation 10 years ago when TURAF was the most dominant air force in the region but we only had...
I would prefer the chief of the general staff and high ranking admirals to be on the TCG Anadolu and for her to stay stationary as other ships form a line and salute as they get past her.
I think that would be nicer.
Yes, which is funny because they stopped the ferry traffic for this. Public transportation utterly broke down.
They could have planned ahead and not sold any YHT tickets for today, allowing the extra tracks to carry more people. A lot of things were poorly planned and executed.
And to me it...
I was there, I watched it happen with a few friends
To me it was okay but my former navy friends found it disorderly and disappointing.
My only problem was the civilian vessels cluttering the area.
The ANKA-S that got shot down by the American F-16 didn't even have an air search radar. Didn't even have an AIM-9 as far as we know. It was never a threat.
Poor thing didn't even know what hit him :(
because alternatives don't have the speed and agility to evade incoming SAM missiles as well as probably not having enough electrical power for EW systems, not transfering enough kinetic energy to the weapons etc. etc.
There are simply no alternatives to F-16, at least currently.
sometimes...
