Doors open for negotiation with US on F-16 deal: Foreign Office

I agree and would offer two reasons why it has turned sour. The first is the general reason that you pointed out... That has sadly, become the prevailing attitude of most Americans. It is the feeling of most Americans since 9/11 about most Muslim countries. The second, which is specific to...

Is this the gun that will change the face of warfare in the ME and Africa?

Change the face of warfare? Nah. It's just an improved version of the standard AK-74 and that weapon did not change much. Don't get me wrong, the Kalashnikovs are all fine battlefield weapons, but the design is basically the same as the first ones issued many decades ago.

Doors open for negotiation with US on F-16 deal: Foreign Office

I agree. My country needs to decide if it is interested in having allies from the Muslim world or not. There is virtually no chance, (or at least very little.), that these aircraft would be used against India but there is a 100% chance that they will be used in precision strikes against the...

    Boris Johnson Drops Out!

The UK Conservative Party's leading BREXIT supporter who was widely believed to be a favourite to replace David Cameron as party leader, has dropped out of the leadership race in a surprising move. :o: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/01/world/europe/britain-conservative-party.html?_r=0

Iran, Russia split over Syria policy

I will grant you that there is some truth to your first statement, although Iran is hardly what one would call a democracy. The second one is just bigoted rhetoric. There is a reason why so many millions upon millions of people in the world, will go to almost any length to come to my country...

Suicide bombing kills 40 cops in Kabul

Requiscat in pace, to the fallen. :( I am generally viewed on this board as being a supporter of Pakistan but having read several posts in this sad thread, I am wondering if some Pakistani posters also remember Pakistan's very long and intimate involvement with the Taliban. Jeez, one only...

Iran, Russia split over Syria policy

Perhaps you should wish for free elections in your own country first.

    The Somme: France’s forgotten battle

Lol! You say, "not hostile at all" and then say one hostile and unproven thing after another. For example, I still have never said anything that can be construed as positing that America "did everything". Like I said, you are answering the post you made up in your own head as opposed to the...

    The Somme: France’s forgotten battle

Hmmm, "act like you did everything", is not a hostile remark? First, when did I post anything whatsoever, that stated in any way, shape, or form, that my country, "did everything". I suspect you are simply making up in your head the post you wanted to answer instead of the one I wrote...

    The Somme: France’s forgotten battle

Gee, a hostile post in answer to a non-hostile one and yes, we were 'johnny-come-latelys' in WW1, cleverly waiting until our citizens were actually, you know....attacked and the Germans conspired with our neighbours to make war against us, before we decided to enter the war. I take it from...

    The Somme: France’s forgotten battle

I just watched a series about WWI on the History Channel in my country. I was struck by a military after-action observation that said that the Germans were very causality averse, (Although that did not stop them from taking high casualties.), the Americans and French worked the hardest to...

    Iran appoints New Military Chief

You put some effort into finding the exception although even so, it's not really an exception. The Battle of Saipan was fought by a joint Army/Marine Corps infantry corps called the Amphibious Corps under a single commander so it was not really the Marines acting as "shock troops" for the Army...

Iran, Russia split over Syria policy

Yes, but almost all of what Russia can and is doing in it's use of Syrian military bases.....is fighting Syrian rebels. That may do Syria some good, but I don't think it does much for Russia.

The F35 will be cancelled before 500 planes are made (prediction by Pierre Sprey)

Math will dictate that it has to close once that 501st F-35 is built. :dirol:

Iran, Russia split over Syria policy

That's really it and that's why Putin is less firm in backing Assad than Iran is. Syria really provides Russia nothing but headaches. It has no real oil or exports. It can't provide Russia with access to any vital geographic point other than as a temporary base for it's military and as long...

The end of the deal, hopes, delusions and treasons

...depending on who wins the presidential election, as well as which party controls our Senate. If Sen. Clinton wins, she will maintain the agreement. If Mr. Trump wins, with a conservative GOP Senate, they will immediately scrap the agreement with Iran, as they have repeatedly promised. Btw...

In Russia unveils in action a new Sprut-SDM1 airborne light tank

I'm guessing one reason may be vulnerability. It's chassis is just aluminium composite that is only rated to withstand a 25mm shell fired from beyond 500 yards. That's pretty thin skinned. I'm guessing that about any light hand-held anti-armour rocket will penetrate it.

Top Pakistani Scholars declare Transgender marriages 'legal' in Islam.

But that is my point. They are not an "ex-man" just because they have sexual reassignment surgery. They do not gain female genitalia. They only have the illusion of a woman's appearance through surgery and hormone treatments but they are still, biologically male. Any sexual act they have...

    Iran appoints New Military Chief

Assuming that such is true, then it's a good thing I didn't consult it. I just went on my knowledge of history and US military affairs. While that may be true, that was not the point I was disagreeing with. I was pointing out that I am unaware of any battle in which the USMC "spearheaded" a...
