There were a lot of articles in the past year regarding how Chinese systems are better than US ones. It is very hard to support these claims since they are not based on anything - Even if some of them are true.
I believe these articles are mainly for domestic purposes as well as Chinese allies...

The DOD reports don't dive deep into details since it is an unclassified report - Only features trends. I am sure they know stuff that they can't share because it will risk their sources.
However, and as a result, most of those reports are recycled and almost boring after you read just one...
