    Turkish Aviation Programs

Jokes aside, after YEARS of waiting and delays to see it finally happening.. and then immediately an armed one. Hell yeah. Only difference is the battlefield is also changing, just getting armed drones isn't enough. Now need to improve ISR capabilities :)

    Turkish Land Vehicle Programs

Brother it's Turkish logic. They see Silicon valley and think, hey we should do that. So they go and build a huge *** campus (whatever) and gloat about opening it. But the quality of the products being made and the people inside are questionable. Nice looks but hollow inside :). No offense to...

    The Fight against PKK Terrorism

Been a bit silent in recent two weeks, but routine ops seem to continue - Raid on ISIS cell originating from Iraq, unclear if Turkish or Iraqi in Sakarya - IED dismantled in Diyarbakir/Sur - 1 soldier wounded in Antalya forest area during routine ops, good to see our guys are focusing efforts...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

After years of AKP foreign policy criticism and saying we needed to deal with Assad they've finally come around...

Only difference between that guy and you & me is that we comment on this forum, and he tweets. Take with salt.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Reports more and more regular soldiers are being deployed, I guess some of the rumours about FSA melting away had some truth to it.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Commando is usually used to refer to army commando brigades, they have core professional troops but still accept conscripts. They're part of land forces and often rotate to s.east for coin. Ofc if they're older/senior they can have more niche specifications etc but they're not special forces...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

The guys in your posts are army commando's, not special forces. And our guys, whether it is sf or army have always had a bit crappy equipment. Turkish SF looked like your average private compared to Western SF. Only in recent years did their looks become a bit better in terms of pr.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Fethi Sahin was not known to any of us nor seen anywhere in the media in the past years. We didn't even know they had a fourth captive. Highly likely he was undercover intel (asset).

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

For example our biggest issues are ATGM attack (lack of security detail), and svbied attacks. Something that have been used in the region for years now.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Btw I agree with @ULKU-1 , this can not be compared to what we had with pkk in recent years. Al-Bab is basically like Mosul, and we're gonna have losses anyhow. Add in cold-war mentality from higher-ups and yeah you get this. Land forces always seemed the most thick headed ones in terms of...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

My guess is we took 'surprise' svbied attack, had to retreat due to large number of casualties. Leo2 gets left behind? Weird. If the leo2 shows up in further IS propaganda then it hasn't been destroyed by airstrikes, which would be a shame. Depends on how they calculate numbers from...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Partially. But this is do or don't, still get screwed. Send in larger number of Turkish troops = boys go home in coffins = get criticized Don't send in, try to use fsa = boys go home in coffins. I think we should just send in regular Turkish units augmented by sof/sf and have FSA play...

    >how the fvck can you leave tanks out in the open without coverage(we lost about 15)? security provided by us and by fsa, we only have range for X km, atgm has range of X+ km. Almost no infantry on groud, fsa too weak. Our guys are in apc's/zma's but have same problem as tankers. Our combined...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

We're gonna force a partial ceasefire through, take care of parts of opposition and civilians in our area's. Rest is gonna go to Idlib and lose out to extremists. US will stand with pkk, Syria/Russia will hold those as a card against us but might turn on them later or not say anything when we...

Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead in Ankara

He was killed because otherwise they couldn't get to the body of the ambassador. And while Russian ambassador did not have security detail it is indeed an embarrassment for us... Russian delegate has arrived for joint operation. Time will tell. Also this ''Turks are famous of such a coward...

    Turkish Land Vehicle Programs

Tunisia first ordered MRAPs with SLAT armor and now with Aselsan Falconeye/DAS system and RCWS installed. Very smart. Only negative point is that the RCWS is Korean apparently and not Turkish. This is one of those markets where we can earn a lot if we manage to breakthrough.

    The Fight against PKK Terrorism

If the people joining in with Turkey were in Aleppo they still would have lost. Agree, take whatever Turkmen/FSA there is, skip the rest. Aleppo is just the beginning, Idlib will be bombed just as hard. If we can turn our own operation area in to a safezone we can push civilians there rather...
