The PAF is set to receive a batch of Egyptian Air Force Mirage-Vs

I suspect they'll gradually shift the conventional SOW stuff over to the JF-17 and lower the stress on the Mirages by honing it for strategic ops only. In this sense, a sale to Azerbaijan would be a big deal as that would mean getting a third-party to help foot the bill of integrating marquee...

PAF CAS confirmed the SU-30MKI kill in addition to MiG-21 Bison - Alan Warnes

Moreover, it's specifically Alan Warnes who's given this kind of access. I was at IDEAS and I know for a fact that people from other Western publications tried getting info, and the forces put as much of a distance with them as they did with most others.

SAAB AWACS Being Repaired at PAC

Nope, I'm saying the following statement, "...Swedish SAAB AWACS were built from scratch by another country..." is inaccurate. PAC conducted an extensive repair of Saab 2000s, yes, but it didn't build the airframe or any major aerostructures from scratch. That said, PAC said it wants to...

SAAB AWACS Being Repaired at PAC

It was part of the reason why Project Azm was started (along with Aviation City as a whole). This is all from a PTV interview a couple of years ago. Basically, with Saab's help PAC built depot-level MRO capabilities for the Saab 2000 so that it could repair the 2 damaged aircraft. Those...

Pakistan takes deliveries of 3 SAAB-2000 Aircraft

I think it was 2 new and 2 upgrades (for the Saab 340): The United Arab Emirates Air Force is to upgrade its two Saab Erieye airborne early-warning aircraft and will buy two new multi-mission systems on a Bombardier Global 6000 platform in a deal valued by the customer at $1.27 billion. The...

Pakistan takes deliveries of 3 SAAB-2000 Aircraft

The goal in 2017 was to boost the Erieye fleet to 6, the question now is 'when' or if this is actually occurring or not. Basically, after the first of the new 3 was delivered (i.e., to replace the written-off Erieye), it was unclear if the PAF was continuing with plans for the follow-on order...

Pakistan takes deliveries of 3 SAAB-2000 Aircraft

We did the digging. Basically, the PAF definitely restored its Erieye fleet to 4 aircraft, no dispute on that now as the Swedish government itself confirmed it by reporting the sale of 1 Erieye system to Pakistan in 2018. The confusion is about the 2 follow-on Erieye AEW&C the PAF reportedly...

Turkish air chief arrives in Pakistan

Multilateral collaboration on gas turbines/engines, electronics, and munitions would be nice. Of the three, I'd say you couldn't come up with better alignment in needs, but the question of means is a problem. Ironically, had Pak settled the gas turbine issue 3 decades ago (as you had said)...

Pakistan Army's T-129 ATAK Helicopter Deal | Updates & Discussions.

I'm guessing it's a combination of limited funding to sustain a massive CAS element and, potentially, the PAF looking to use the Block-I/II for launching a Chinese equivalent to CBU-105 (I hope...)

    Indigenous AAM for PAF

It depends ... do these private enterprises have enough capital? Is the PAF willing to let these companies hold IP and work independently from PAC, AWC, etc? In a way, I think it could be interesting to see if DESCON and other big construction and real estate firms (which seem to be the bigger...

    Indigenous AAM for PAF

The South African option is still there, but now, it's the lack of cash on our part which is the biggest constraint.

Amidst tensions with Pakistan, India cleared to buy 24 Seahawk helicopters

At IDEAS Leonardo was pitching the NH90 and AW101 for the PN's multi-role helicopter needs. But as with a lot of things, the main constraint is funding. However, as the PN has a comparatively small need (under 12 helicopters), the absolute cost is low enough ($600-700 m) to sustain over a...

JF-17 with AESA radar and helmet mounted system and the PL-15 misile will replace F16 as top jet ?

To be clear, I don't think the PAF would go for any big imports (aside from maybe China), I was just saying that the Gripen E/F could make for a good fit. It's certainly a lower cost way of getting the MBDA Meteor than say the Typhoon or Rafale, for example.

JF-17 with AESA radar and helmet mounted system and the PL-15 misile will replace F16 as top jet ?

Indeed, it would've helped by spades, but the biggest issue with the Gripen at this time is that it overlaps with the Tejas in specifications. The forthcoming Tejas Mk2 is a Gripen NG level jet. Moreover, I think the US industry has a lead in India right now, the tender is really between Boeing...

Featured Russia would be developing upgraded engines for Pakistan's JF-17 fighters

It appears LETRI and NRIET optimized their respective AESA radars for the JF-17 (and lightweight fighters in general). In the Block-III, the designers might have saved space and weight by switching the flight control to a three-axis FBW. In theory, you can also make single seat variants of the...

False starts, faltering economy, how Asad Umar seems to be lying about the economy

Unfortunately, each one of those is either politically untenable (e.g., imagine talking about defence expenditure now that India just literally attacked you) or requires expenditure in of itself, e.g., moving to green energy. It's obvious that the current gov't is searching for a jackpot at...

Featured Russia would be developing upgraded engines for Pakistan's JF-17 fighters

Block-I, II, III have the same airframe and engine (but Block III will have three-axis FBW). I imagine any real work towards a new engine, if any, would happen post-Block-III.
