I counted 6 torpedo tubes, but no info on internal load-out.

Hangor Class Submarine Project | Updates & Discussions

As it stands (in the public domain), all 8 are AIP/SSPs. However, seeing what the PN apparently pulled with the MILGEM (Jinnah-class) by configuring them with VLS (with zero indication of it), who knows...

Hangor Class Submarine Project | Updates & Discussions

You're right. AIP is about staying out long and quiet, so for speed and response, SSNs make sense. I don't think the PN would disagree, but the main constraints are probably technical, e.g., safety, reliability, etc.

Pakistan-Turkey 4 Milgem Ada Class Corvettes Contract - Construction started

RAM has its appeal, but bear in mind, you're now dealing with lots of little missiles and their individual shelf-life. If in 5-10 years you need to refresh your stocks and the US or EU embargo you, you're done. It's also an issue of high cost, which applies to the FL-3000N as well (vs. other...

Pakistan-Turkey 4 Milgem Ada Class Corvettes Contract - Construction started

The FL-3000N and RAM were both on offer (RAM via Germany), but the PN has clearly opted for a gun-based CIWS across both the MILGEM and the 054A/P. So it's clearly a technical decision more so than political.

PAF F16-Blk70 possibly coming - TO BE CONFIRMED

The DSCA pricing will be around $150-190 m per aircraft, but that includes everything -- the aircraft, training, spare parts, infrastructure, etc. It's the maximum possible you'll spend on the program, and that too over 5-10 years. The price you're quoting is the amount LM would get, and...

    Pakistan Naval Aviation - Updated

@Oscar at the risk of sounding absurd, is there a scenario where Pakistan leverages China's economies-of-scale to develop and construct a small aircraft carrier (and launch with Project Azm fighters?)? Think 10-15 years from now when we do (or hope) to have a comparatively larger surface fleet...

One year in Pakistan borrows lowest net foreign loan

It can work if the government has lots of fiscal resources to spend (e.g., oil money) and, in turn, it uses a stimulus to give the private sector a chance to develop a competitive advantage for driving exports (e.g., taking construction projects abroad). So, if you're say Descon, you'd use...

Pakistan Army's T-129 ATAK Helicopter Deal | Updates & Discussions.

So, it would be interesting if there's an idea to create a 6-ton ATAK with the TEI turboshaft engine and T-625's components. This would basically be the ITAR-free ATAK (before the 10-ton ATAK-2).

Pakistan Army's T-129 ATAK Helicopter Deal | Updates & Discussions.

@cabatli_53 @T-123456 do you remember how before TAI announced the Heavy Attack Helicopter program, there were statements about a 7-8 ton ATAK using the TEI same engine, transmission, etc as the T-625? Conceived as a combination of T129 ATAK and T625, ATAK 2 is using the sub-systems such as...

Pakistan wants to create a self-reliant, self-sustained defense industry

The starting point is evidently creating a wall between military decision-making and industry development. Even if the latter remains in the military's hands, the decision-making needs to be more market-oriented than (for a lack of better term) "armory-oriented." HIT, PAC, POF etc., are literal...

Pakistan-Turkey 4 Milgem Ada Class Corvettes Contract - Construction started

Due credit to the PN for pulling this together the right way, e.g., seemingly changing the scope of the MILGEM to include VLA, commonality in SAMs between the 054A and Jinnah Class, etc. Question is, can they take it a step further and secure the HQ-16B with 70 km range? Or maybe add a...

Pakistan-Turkey 4 Milgem Ada Class Corvettes Contract - Construction started

I'd say the Turkish Hisar and South African Denel Umkhonto EIR are the top options. But at IDEAS, MBDA was marketing both the Aster-15 and CAMM, so that's worth keeping an eye on... Still unclear if this configuration is for all 4 ships OR if it's for the 1st Jinnah Class Frigate (i.e., the...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

With the WS13 available and another WS-engine the pipeline, I think sticking to the RD-93 has less to do with the RD-93 in of itself and more, to @messiach's earlier points, with wanting gas turbine technology for the future.

Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions.

Yup, but bear in mind, the PAF is extending the F-7Ps to keep flying them, there are no upgrades on the horizon. If we're just talking about keeping the Block-1 and Block-2 as they are, then yes I agree, the PAF can certainly run a structural re-fresh and keep flying them as-is. That's a likely...

Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions.

Re: the airframe it depends. If we look at it from the PoV of Western aircraft, i.e., high materials sourcing, labour and production costs, then yes, you're definitely correct (hence the $100 m F-16). However, those costs aren't as high with the Chinese, and the JF-17 sits in a cost tier...

Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions.

It depends on whether the PAF is viewing the Block 3 in the same continuity as the Block 1 & 2. As I said earlier, the existing JF-17s can and will keep using the Chinese AAM/AShMs, and the PAF will need a munitions set with the Blk-3 anyways. The advantage of going Chinese all the way is...
