China Still Years Ahead of India

Difficult question to answer. There is no doubt that they're considered Chinese today but even as late as WWII when the Japanese set up Manchukuo, they considered themselves not to be Chinese and yet, they are without a doubt a very much Chinese dynasty. There are many ways to view it. I don't...

    Gaps in US Missile Defenses

Will you at least get your terminology right? If you have an Inter-Continental Ballastic Missile, why the hell do you need to launch it off a ship? SCUDs are Short Range Ballastic Missiles and needs an anchoring point to lift off. SLBMs are designed to be ignited in the air. SCUDs are not. If...

    Chit-Chat

Have you ever tried to debate with historians? We don't argue about the rights and wrongs of an issue. We debate what it means. The current biggest area of study for the PLA is the War Zone Campaing. One simple article launched six pages of debate; citing historic examples and me running to...

    Chit-Chat

Hey, Jana I figured you would know by now. CDF is my forum. I'm LCol Yu. Just a bit of warning about CDF. It's one of the dryest forums out there; meaning there are more academics, modern day historians than anything else. Lots and lots of articles but very little debate about the emotional...

Army Rushes To Rescue Boy From hole in haryana

For modern countries, wells are too small to fit a person in. Electric pumps get the water to the surface. For technology absent areas such as rural Indian, Pakistan, China, etc wells have to be larget enough so that you can get at the water. That is just the way things are.

Army Rushes To Rescue Boy From hole in haryana

Wells are not dug with rescue in mind. When something gets stuck in a well, there's usually no room to go around and hoised ropes or other anchoring system to pull that thing out. The only other way around that is to dig a parallel shaft in which case you have to be careful not to weaken the...

Pakistan's Special Operations Forces: SSG | SSGN | SSW | SOW | SOG

Not very. I don't doubt that there was some sympathy but by and large, the Tajikistani Regiments did most of the fighting in Afghanistan and most of the winning. Also, they had a Civil War there not too long ago. The Tajiks called it an Incursion from Afghanistan and they repulsed the Islamic...

Pakistan's Special Operations Forces: SSG | SSGN | SSW | SOW | SOG

I don't doubt that there was some missions within the USSR but like everything else in military circle, the achievements are often exergerated, even within the SAS. I know I'm guilty of overplaying things after a wee bit much to drink. Yes, you may be able to walk that far without water ... but...

    Joke

He started kissing butt big time. He apologized profercely and took the General on a tour. The Gen was there to drop off his daughter to the cadets which then resulted in the Capt taking real good care of her. I don't think the General did anything but the story did get back to Bde (*** staring...

Pakistan's Special Operations Forces: SSG | SSGN | SSW | SOW | SOG

I did read it. I think I have it in electronic form somewhere. However, I do recall that the Soviet Army called his book hogwash and detailed some of the ops as being impossible from a physical standpoint, ie, no way a man can walk that far without water.

How long will U.S. stand by Israel?

Why do insist in staying in this crap? I told you before. Explain ANZAC! Explain the War of 1812. Explain the American Civil War. Explain the Vietnam War. You were mighty silent on these issues.
