Why is India allowing Hasina to swim in Chinese water?

I agree, with democracy it's always a slow process, an evolution almost. Even though I'm not a fan of the BJP, I think it was a big step for India stepping out of Congress monopoly, hopefully it was a good move for you guys. I also hope Bangladesh can do the same, without resorting to the Jamaat...

Why is India allowing Hasina to swim in Chinese water?

Look at this proud Nordic Aryan boasting about his superior race :what:. Anyways, Bangladesh has significantly less cousin marriages than almost all states in South India and around as much as most northern ones, try again.

Why is India allowing Hasina to swim in Chinese water?

See there is a lot of similarity between our two situations. Honestly my biggest hope was when Muhammad Yunus considered founding a party back in the 2000s, but that didn't pan out of course for many reasons. When it comes to democratic nations, solutions to take time because we rely on our...

Why is India allowing Hasina to swim in Chinese water?

This is very rich coming from the country that declared itself a superpower in 2012. :coffee: And you should also realize life is more than just black and white, and that the only two options are not only Hasina and Jamaat. I'm very critical of Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League, for reasons...

Political killings define Bangladesh democracy: US report

I don't see any lies in this to be honest.

    Remittance woes continue

I assume it's to prevent the upper classes from hoarding money abroad rather than in Bangladesh.

Two Malaysian immigration officials sentenced to death for killing a Bangladeshi

Bangladesh could learn a lot from Malaysia, I don't know if the situation was reversed that our officials would be punished in a similar manner.

    Remittance woes continue

It's difficult and there's a lot of backage you have to get around but it's not impossible to receive money from Bangladesh. I've received money from Bangladesh via Western Union, and vice versa I have sent some too.

Bangladesh Weakens Longstanding Law Against Underage Marriage

Not all scholars think the same, I'm sure there's enough moderates with common sense to support a good initiative, but the key is bringing them to the forefront, rather than alienating that whole section of society, therefore having the extreme, anti-regime ones look like the majority.

Bangladesh Weakens Longstanding Law Against Underage Marriage

Ah if we had a stronger, centralised government I could see us being able to accomplish that but right now we only have a government that is preoccupied in maintaining its own position and its economic interests, social issues like this won't be a focus point.

Bangladesh Weakens Longstanding Law Against Underage Marriage

And what method/policies are you guys using to achieve this?

Bangladesh Weakens Longstanding Law Against Underage Marriage

This is a tricky issue, and I don't think it can be solved with sweeping government acts one way or the other, this is a cultural problem that needs to be tackled at the grass roots level, people need to see the negatives of child-marriage. Is there any post-colonial nation which has...

Bangladesh officially recognises Kosovo as an independent country

I wish the best for Pakistan, in fact I myself am 1/4 Bihari, so I have relatives in Karachi who left East Pakistan during the conflict. I am no great fan of the Awami League or Sheikh Hasina, but I and most of fellow Bangladeshis are happier with independence than without.

Bangladesh officially recognises Kosovo as an independent country

On the surface your correct, there were very few riots I must admit. However politically you can see how divided Bengalis were from the rest of the nation, we were never happy with the status quo shown by the large support for a secular, socialist party (that was founded by proud Pakistani and...

Bangladesh officially recognises Kosovo as an independent country

Like I said in a previous post, I'm quite indifferent to the 1971 war, and this topic has been done to death on this forum, with the arguments going back and forth endlessly on a war that finished 4 decades ago. If you choose to se that war as the valiant, brave last stand of Pakistan against...

AQIS supports Hefazat on SC statue removal

I'm not going to go into the argument of iconoclasm, and shirk, etc but of all the things to protest about why something so minor? If these people are such ardent Muslims, why not bring up more urgent and pressing issues effecting Muslims into the light? better yet, since they are already...

Secondary education A LONG WAY TO GO.

Thank you, I have been lurking for a while so I do get the gist of the forums, but I thought to join anyway there's always some decent discussion underneath the varioue one-up-manship. :-) Of course, I never said any of those things would be easy, but if I could advise the Bangladesh education...

Bangladesh officially recognises Kosovo as an independent country

Honestly I don't particularly care about that war much, I'm not here to dwell in the past, nor am I particularly well-versed in military history. I'm not one of the Bangladeshis that will argue a flame war for ten pages about who did what in 1971. I just wanted to make that first comment because...

Secondary education A LONG WAY TO GO.

Can we stop the dick-measuring-contest this thread has become? All our countries aren't quite measuring up when you look globally. Anyways besides that, I'd like to see a greater investment in vocational education starting from secondary school. The current system is just not suited to the...
