Why Pakistan is wealthier than India

I guess this kind of wealth report does offer an useful view to the economical state of nations, which as the report pointed out is an asset view. That being said, cautions need to applied when we interpret the numbers. I tend to look at them as a rough “guide” to the economical state, just like...

India To Expand Gas Pipeline To Myanmar Through Bangladesh

U Nevertheless this is a great initiative which improves the connectivity of the region. I am guessing the pipeline will flow from Myanmar to India as Myanmar has a major gas reserve and India with booming industry demand will be hungry for gas. Gas pipeline is a large investment, especially...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

I don’t have doubts about SK/Indonesia’s ambition in developing their own fighter plane. However I do wonder how much they are willing and capable of spending on this program. Given F35 programs cost of USD 406b, it is probably going to be in the order of hundreds billions for another comparable...

‘Macro adjustments to hurt economic growth’

I see. The wb data shows Indian GDP in current dollar went 1.20t to 1.18 between 2007 and 2008 and from 1.83t to 1.85t between 2011 and 2013 but the constant dollar version would indicate the growth was 6% per annum for the period.

China bans Muslim children from Quran classes-

Agree that there is more to life. It is great that you bring up freedom and choice. Spending time studying science and real knowledge as opposed to religious study will provide these kids far more tangible freedom in the later stages of their life. They can choose to become a engineer or artist...

‘Macro adjustments to hurt economic growth’

Not sure how the author concludes that nominal GDP can shrink in Pakistan. Not saying it is impossible but it is highly unlikely unless Pakistan is under IMF’s austerity measures, which will send the economy to shock.

China bans Muslim children from Quran classes-

From Chinese perspective, all children should dedicate all their time studying science, mathematics, literature and art and all should work their way to higher education. Religious text simply has no place in the modern education system. I believe this is common practice in every advanced...

WSJ: American Entrepreneurs Who Flocked to China Are Heading Home, Disillusioned

Agree. While China offers massive market potential it is also ultra competitive as there are plenty of businesses loaded with cash and latest technology. Many even prepare to offer these products and services below cost only to capture the market share. Many foreign businesses who sre successful...

SH-15 Self propelled howitzer under trials by Pakistan army?

Hydraulic suspension can lower the chassis down in seconds. Also the gun can start the process of aiming earlier as it doesn’t require additional leveling that may be needed with separate stands. SH15 is a step up in terms of accuracy and deployment time from the older generation.

Bangladesh Economic & Infrastructure Development - Updates & Discussions

This is not really true. Most capital inflow were foreign direct investment. There were probably some loans but they were minority in the grand scheme of things. I have to admit that with this kind of rating China or other lending institutions are pretty faithful and full of goodwill. Hopefully...

SH-15 Self propelled howitzer under trials by Pakistan army?

Exactly. Other self-propelled howitzers usually have its chassis as the front support. However truck suspension even the special ones is not designed to handle the huge recoil, which affects the stability and accuracy of the howitzer, particularly in the case of large caliber gun. The hydraulic...

Yellow Vests : French interior minister ready to declare state of emergency ?

Just google a bit about French taxation. There are 3 main taxes 1: Income tax, 0-45%, most people probably in the middle income category (27k-72k), it means the weighted tax rate is about 22% at 72000 euro. 2: Social security tax, most employees pay 20-25% of gross earning. 3. VAT, 20% of most...

Bangladesh Economic & Infrastructure Development - Updates & Discussions

Not sure whether there are any conspiracy against developing countries but one can argue the rating agencies are just doing their job to call out the risk they identified. Developing countries and their banking system tend to have issues due to risk/funding concentration making them more...
