This is happening all over India especially in South India, i havn't seen mechanized rice harvesters till a couple of years ago. Now a days they are all over the place from where i came from (AP). Looks like big farmers are going for mechanized harvesting to manual as the labor costs have risen...
Many Indians still don't know the number of zeros at the end of million and billion. As long as our school books follows Indian numerical system i.e, lacks and crores, the confusion will exists.
Many people still believe in a notion that lakh = million and crore = billion as our Sushma jee. :D
"More than 80% of Indians live on less than 2$ a day", which talks about consumption rather than creating wealth. My parents being old fashioned, vegetarians and teetotalers spends on average 2-3$ a day, which makes them near close to poverty line standards set by western economies. But...
Western poverty levels are calculated on consumption levels which are flawed especially when comes to Indians who are more interested in saving rather than spending.
I don't know why media is projecting Rahul as future PM. Other than eating well prepared lunches in dalit houses, he hasn't taken upon responsibleness till now.
1> No portfolio till now as minister.
2> No public debate.
3> Taken no responsibleness to show case his leader ship skills.
Till now...
I hope India won't require another renaissance movement for that. I wholehearted support it. Present Indian secularism at best can be described as tokenism.
