Dayumm is hard to believe. I left India for Canada in 2009 and at that there were power cuts of 2-3 hours per day. Things has changed in a big way it seems. Any more from north and east India???

I don't know how old is that but currently India is 3rd in both electricity production and consumption after China and USA. India has overtaken almost every other nation. Not really, most 1st and 2nd tier cities of India have almost no power cuts and most industries in India are getting 24/7...
