Indian Airforce's first Sukhoi: The Su-7MKI

Indian Airforce's first Sukhoi: The Su-7 Sadly, not many people are aware of the first Sukhoi to serve the Indian Airforce given the limited literature available on this plane. But even limited literature doesn't take away the visible mark the Su-7 left in history of the subcontinent...

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

wow! What a riot in the previous pages. If only we had even 8 of them, half a squadron. *sigh* Geo-synchronous satellite is on a whole different altitude. Spy satellites are generally found between 300km to 2000km or in the Low Earth Orbit. Geo-synchronous orbit is at an altitude of...

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

Yea, because it hurts their pride. I wish the IAF releases the details of the spy ops these MiG-25s carried out since they are now retired. I bet half of the ops were carried out not in pakistan but deep in RED Territory. It would be more interesting to read that than watching a James bond...

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

Most of the spying is done only within 100kms from the border. So by the time their slow F-16s would scramble get to height and reach maximum speed, MiGs will already be in Indian Airspace. But the proliferation of BVR missile does pose a threat no doubt, but it something which can be defeated...

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

Good luck trying to get the global hawk. The U.S will never offer that aircraft unless India signs CISMOA. Here that agreement is paramount since India will have to use their standard datalinks to operate that UAV. This isn't an P8 or C-130 where the communication equipment was stripped before...

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

MiG-31 - The Fighter India refused to buy. Following the retirement of the MiG-25, the residents of Rawalpindi may have heaved a sigh of relief since now they don't have to replace their Glass Windows often, but on the other side of the border the IAF was left with a huge gap in its...

IN Sea Harriers - How this Old Dog compares with the Subcontinent's Newest

This was not intended to be a Harrier vs PAF topic guys, I was comparing LCA too. Basically I wanted everyone to see how Harrier fared against the Desi counterparts. Besides the desi ones, PAF has around 120 BVR-less Mirage-3s & Mirage-5s, and 180 F-7s, while the IAF has hundreds of MiG-27s and...

IN Sea Harriers - How this Old Dog compares with the Subcontinent's Newest

Most people are unaware of Indian Navy's Sea Harriers, even though they are serving the IN from 1983 to 2012, and they will be retired around 2014-2015. That's 32 years of service for the Indian Armed forces!! So I hope this topic will help improve awareness about this fine fighter. The Royal...

    Your views on Gay Marriage

During the second world war, if the Red Army found some gays screwing each other in their army, they did the most practical thing. Instead of wasting bullets, they were made to clear mine fields by ordering the faggots to run over them. You got to admit Russian ingenuity. In India there are...

Syrian Airdefences shot down Turkish plane

Your one plane can carry tonnes of guided weapons which could wreak havoc on unsuspecting troops and assassinate a key commander below. They won't even know what hit them. You could simply bomb them from stand-off ranges and say it wasn't us but the FSA which did it. In case you haven't realized...

Syrian Airdefences shot down Turkish plane

This is what I call a turkey shoot. lol Syrian airspace is often violated by Israelis who come and bomb stuff like it is their training ground. Last time they came without any warning and bombed a nuke reactor. So its no surprise that Syria shot down an unidentified bogie in its air space...

It says right there in the official website they they do use such coatings... probably in key areas like engine inlets etc. Whenever someone says RCS, they normally mean frontal RCS with X band radar. I have never heard of Side RCS or Top RCS or overall RCS figures.
