Don't buy Caracal pistols | Catastrophic failures being reported.

I'm aware of that. Still doesn't excuse the fact that you were incorrect and downright hyperbolic. I would expect a moderator to have standards.

Don't buy Caracal pistols | Catastrophic failures being reported.

No it hasn't. There have been two failures. The first one occurred was a possible drop safety failure. This (the one you've pictured from pakguns) was the second one where flaws were found in the slide material of a small batch. As a precaution however, the initial recall of just C pistols...

    Assessment | JF-17 Thunder, a 21st century F-20 Tigershark ?

Again, what is the point in comparing basic numbers like max g and max climb max range? What are the real world numbers? How much G can an aircraft pull when it's loaded with external stores? What is climb performance like on an above ISA day with said external stores? How far can the...

    Assessment | JF-17 Thunder, a 21st century F-20 Tigershark ?

Not when the numbers you quote have basic inaccuracies like landing distance 750km. For the job it needs to do, replace the F-7, the JF-17 is fine. There really is no point comparing it to $60 million+ fighters which in reality it could not hold a candle to.

Pakistan Army Aviation Corps - Updated

Seriously, you should do your research. AgustaWestland has an assembly and flight line in Yeovil UK.

Russia has exported $13.2 billion of weapons and military equipment to foreign customers in 2013.

Your source proves his point: wheat and meslin: $4.5 billion Fertiliser large packages: $3.6 billion Softwood lumber: 3.2 billion Fertiliser small packages: $1.9 billion Urea: $1.9 billion

Airbus A380 a Magnificient plane ideal for PIA

PIA caters to a leisure VFR (visiting family relations) market which is typically price sensitive. PIA pax are not going to pay a premium for the luxury. The range you quoted is the max pax load. As soon as you add cargo, the range drops quickly. Realistically, an A380 can only carry max...

Pakistan Civil Aviation | Information & News.

Shaheen and airblue are in private hands. As such, they don't have to tender when procuring stuff. PIA has to put tenders out for everything from toilet paper to new aircraft. Tenders take time and money to analyse. Throw in the inter-departmental bureaucracy in Pakistan and it's a small...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

That's not true. Off the top of my head, excluding emirates, the following carriers have A380 orders unfulfilled (I've probably missed a few out): British Airways Virgin Air France Lufthansa Asiana Korean Thai Qantas Skymark Qatar Etihad Singapore

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

Come back to me once you've flogged some A350s to All Nippon. It's been hugely delayed into service - so was the airbus a380 It was over weight when it entered service - so was the airbus A380 It's had a troubled start in airliner service (battery fires, GenX icing issues) - so did the A380...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

I find it hard to believe you work for EADS when you come out with that remark. Even your bosses (Tom Enders, John Leahy - do the names ring a bell?) don't think Boeing is going to collapse and both have said recently that they do not think either aircraft OEM will go beyond 55% market share...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

And just to disprove this point that PIA don't carry much cargo, as you said, especially to North America, here is a real world flight plan used this past May on an Islamabad-Toronto flight (courtesy of a family relation in PIA). As you can see, the flight is only 5 tons short of the max zero...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

They don't always use the 77LR. Besides, Karachi-Toronto is the longest non stop in the network. In which case, if you weren't referring to it as cargo, why use it in the context of the discussion? (ie, see the quote below: You're comparing apples to mangoes. Pan Am was operating in a...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

Well that's because they're long range flights where aircraft are operating beyond their max payload range. Example the 777-300ER has a max-payload range of around 5800nm. The still air distance between Karachi and Toronto is 6313nm. Once you factor is ATS routings, the flying distance will be...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

As I said, a single aisle aircraft does not offer enough capacity for many domestic and mid-east routes (Saudia, Etihad, Qatar, Emirates, Gulf Air and Oman Air use predominantly widebody aircraft to Pakistan). Take a look at this blog by Behramjee. Before you question his credentials and...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

These two points are incorrect. Firstly, only Air France is struggling with their A380 fleet. Qantas has only deferred theirs as they wanted to reduce capital expenditure (they also deferred 787s). Secondly, I disagree with your opinion that PIA only needs the A320 and 777. At the moment...

    PIA acquires new Boeing 737-800

You forgot the 3 777-300ER already in the fleet (AP-BHV, BHW, BID). Once the new 77Ws arrive, PIA will have a 14 strong 777 fleet. Also, I believe PIA reserved some 777 options with their latest order should they want to operate more than 14

Pakistan Air Force VVIP Boeing 707 sold for only Rs8.4 million

The bulk of that aircraft's value was the engines. I should have been clearer in saying my figure was without them. As the PAF 707 was of 60s vintage and in a state of disrepair, even with its engine you would struggle over $100 000. Those old Pratt and Whitneys would need more than a...

Pakistan Air Force VVIP Boeing 707 sold for only Rs8.4 million

Not a chance. You would struggle to get more than $500 000 for a 747 classic. Not sure how you would get a few million for a 707.
