India pitches for BrahMos induction in Russian naval fleet

Brahmos is the best anti ship missile in its class - and the class is short range. They dont need a short range missile because all their main adversaries have a long range missile.

India pitches for BrahMos induction in Russian naval fleet

Why should they induct a missile with such a limited range? This is a huge problem for the IN - their best missile has only a range of 300km - compare that to the naval scalp of the french navy or the tomahawk of the USN both of which have a range of 1000km. If an IN frigate has to go against a...

Mark II to be a world winner: DRDO

Currently I think there are plans to have a tank force of 4000 tanks. It would have been bigger but we realized that tanks are no good for the indo china border so nearly all these 4000 are just for pakistan. By my count there should be 2000 T72s, 1650 T90s, 250 Arjuns. Currently the upgradation...

Indian Navy eyes expansion with three more Russian-made Krivak IV frigates

Have you read about the type 26?? The first one is supposed to enter service in 2021. Imagine when India will get it's first deliveries - 2026-2030 at least. The Yantar shipyard has already made 4 Talwar class, have the experience and are delivering with increased speed - another order and we'll...

Evolution of the Air-To-Air Missiles: Options for the IAF

we have only 177 R 77?? Doesnt seem right that we order 500 micas for 50 mirages but 177 R 77 for 270 su 30s and 69 mig 29s. Or maybe the author missed a zero in the middle somewhere. Any idea on how capable the Astra will be when compared to mica, derby,R 77 and amraam?

MiG-31 "The AWACS Scarecrow" - The Fighter India refused to buy

I dont think the radar range of the su 30 mentioned is correct. Its supposed to detect a f-16 sized target at 140km (RCS of f-16 is 1-3m2) so for a 5m2 target the range should be 180-200km. Anyways I dont think the IAF could afford a fighter like the mig 31 in the 80s.

India must carry out "difficult" economic reforms: Obama

Being a big proponent of bringing in fdi in multi brand retail, I must say Obama is right(in this at least). Bringing in FDI not only helps the rupee, but will create jobs, bring down prices of consumer goods(help in reducing inflation) and also help the farmers get a better price for their produce

Is China Creating A Capability for Copter-Borne Operations Across Tibet?

From Tibet?? No way.... Tibet is a plateau - that means air will be very thin so for a chopper to actually be able to take off it will need to drastically reduce its payload. Low payload means it will need to make lots of incursions into indian territory to do much damage - again and again...

    Professor pitches 'Chinese Union' bloc

It doesnt say anything about annexing. All it says is that it should form a union on the lines of the European Union - Plus this is the opinion of one professor not the country. Try not to sensationalize small news items. Also from the way the European union turned out I'd say its a pretty...

Indian Army wants US$ 200 billion to counter China, Pakistan

Tell them to spend the money they get first before asking for more. They keep returning the money back to the government after the end of each financial year. And with such a huge fiscal deficit( which is rising because of crazy policies by the govt) we cant afford to continue to give more and...

This deal is not certain - India just issued an RFI and MBDA responded with the Taurus - If we select it then most probably we'll get it with the super sukhoi upgrade

There’s No Escaping MBDA’s Meteor Missile

If you mean the ones produced by HAL then you're probably right but the first 18 will most probably arrive within 3 yrs of signing the contract ( This was part of the RFI for MMRCA), so we should see the first 18 in service by 2016

There’s No Escaping MBDA’s Meteor Missile

No doubt its extremely expensive but its capabilities are also far better than current market competition. So once we get these babies introduced into the rafales and hopefully the mirages as well, what will be the role of the micas we are buying? just as a dogfighting missile? MICA is far too...

There’s No Escaping MBDA’s Meteor Missile

India and China – ‘Double-Trouble’ for the U.S.

In a conflict between China and America, India can actually come out ahead - but not by trusting and helping the americans( we'll be utter fools to trust them), we can come ahead by joining China or atleast by not aiding the US and in return China should be ready to solve the border issues...
