No one is advocating not using technology. It is using ONLY technology as the main argument, that’s undesirable according to Hanbali school of thought and impermissible according to Hanafi and the rest schools of thought.

Context. I think I already explained. Also , the Quran says nothing about how to establish the month of Ramzan. I believe that was your argument. It is not “enough “ in the sense you are trying to say. Rather it enjoins to follow the Prophet (PBUH). How else will you follow the Prophet (PBUH) if...

Why predicting moon sighting is very difficult

You are making fun of the example by another member by saying not if you program it with bismillah. Seems like trolling to me.

Why predicting moon sighting is very difficult

I believe trolling of religious concepts is trolling gone too far wouldn’t you agree?

Fawwad Ch is root of this evil being discussed here. He should have waited before announcing this half-cocked methodology. If he were so confident, he would not have sent it to the CII for approval. Also it is my opinion that his heart is in the right place about this. His execution leaves alot...

We do disagree on that point. That much is established. And it is perfectly fine as well. You have your reasons to which I don’t agree and i have mine to which you don’t agree. But i will point out , i do not disagree with using the said calculations and faculties as a tool. My only gripe with...

No the simplest one would be to sight the moon. The scientific one requires calculations and what not.

Nuclear Pakistan - credit where it is due

I know the story, but since you mentioned that the said ASI was from your baradari, this is his version of events of that incidents? Meaning the accusations are true if this ASI is a witness to it?

No , he very categorically stated NOT TO FAST UNTIL THE CRESCENT IS SIGHTED. What stops us now from sighting the crescent? Nope. Your example is easily debunked. Telescopes are used to “sight” since it is the same light entering your cornea and by all stretches of imagination, the word sighting...

Every celestial body has atleast one moon attached to it. Atleast the ones we are hypothetically going to inhabit. Also note your example is crude, since in such an event , the very same lunar calculations will also be invalid.

Enlighten us on this precedent then. ? I haven’t seen that precedent. Also note Solar and Lunar calculations are like apples and oranges. No relation to each other. Salah times are calculated on SOLAR TIMINGS. Not Lunar. I have already provided proof, rather than a simple rebuttal. Please read...

Already agreed to in our previous discussion as well. But the context of that agreement is also important. On the contrary, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) categorically stated to start fasting on sighting of the moon. Sighting is the physical one, not the metaphorical one. I heard Allah's...

He did not. He also did not allow them to be used as the sole source for declaration of Ramzan. Per Hadeeth these are the only conditions for Ramzan 1) Sighting of the moon or witness testimony to that effect 2) completing 30 days. It doesn’t disprove my argument. If it were permissible you...

Yeah and i take serious exception to that. I am a Computer Science grad and you will not find someone more in favour of scientific methods . That doesn’t mean i start to purportedly “improve” a deen that is already beyond question just because i disagree with illiterate mullahs. If i use reason...

Muslims were the proponents of this science, yet did not use calculations(which were available even then) to declare Ramzan and Eid. Otherwise we would have had the precedent. Those Muslims were pioneers of Science, yet chose to remain on the simple path of Sunnah. Ask yourself why that was so...

Lets not take our collective hatred for illiterate Mullahs and extend it to us being illiterate if we don’t do the opposite of them. Sunnah is a simple tradition that needs following by every faithful Muslim. Otherwise astronomy was quite strong back then as well. It is one of the world’s most...
