2 years ago, Pakistan was aligning itself with Iran, China, Russia, CAR's in an economic bloc, India was on the ropes vis a vis China, the USA was scrambling to maintain it's influence in the region.
Fast forward today.
A complete shambles because of some of our people...
The only divine justice I can see is the one that is punishing the whole of Pakistani society for it's acceptance of injustice, complacency, corruption by everyone from the richest to the lowliest as a way of life.
Too late, won't happen.
The people who would legislate for and enforce this land reform are the same ones who own all the land or are married into land owning families.
The landowners, business people, generals, top bureaucrats and politicians are all intermarried into each others families...
I say this in despair and sadness but it doesn't matter whether overseas Pakistanis do or don't send remittances. The economy is so precarious that it is already at a state of default. The only to Hong keeping it afloat is deposits from friendly countries which Pakistan doesn't in reality own...

It happens like it happens everywhere in the world but the difference is how it is policed, detected, punished and viewed by society.
I lived in Pakistan in the late 90s, it was rife then.
It wasn't even hidden. It was virtually accepted as a social norm.

Sorry, but but we're not talking about land disputes, killing and burning over religious bigotry is nothing new in Pakistan.
Every minority has been targeted over the years.
The crop we have been cultivating is fully grown, it is swaying in the breeze, the sun is shining, it should be fully ripe soon.
In the meantime, the croppers are sharpening their scythes and sickles in readiness for the harvest.
It will be a bumper crop.
If the best Pakistan can produce to run itself is the likes of Maryam and Bilawal then the people of Pakistan can kiss goodbye to any prosperous future.
Maybe the government would serve the people better if they started to hand out rubber dinghies rather than hand out laptops.
