I don't see any raptors in Iraq or Syria either. I think there are some oxygen problem and incidents of pilots have problem breathing up there.

Nowaday submarine doesn't need to get any where near its target. It can simply launch cruise missiles tens of kms away. It can also dive much deeper. So traditional sonar won't be able find it. Even if it is found, it can dive and depth charge won't be any use. It would be submarine vs submarine...

Aegis 's SM2 defense missile has sensitive thermal imaging camera that can chase maveurable warhead ballistic missiles. I wonder if it can really defeat the DF.

China had something similiar but bigger and armed with Antiships Ballistic Missiles :bounce:

Russia never really wanted that many Aircraft carriers. They are too costly to maintain. It is an offensive weapon. Unlike the US they don't want to invade anyone. Money better spent on missile defense etc.

Surprisingly the US aren't afraid of Syria air defense. I want to see how F18 fares with S300 - S400. Shooting down 10-20 planes would be awesome.
