that true.... but its also true that countermeasures work.... may be not all the time, but it does.... Atlantic Conveyor was sunk at Falklands after it was hit by an Exocet... but the missile was diverted by a destroyer first.... it was bad luck for the Atlantic Conveyor to be in the way...

my guess would be range and payload, and may even be speed....

umm.... but as I said, a ship, however big, can defend itself.... hence, the need for multiple missile salvos to overwhelm the ship's defences.... you fire 3/4 missiles at a time and one hits..... that would do the trick.... most SSMs are now-a-days aimed at targeting 1,500ton+ ships.... one hit...

add to that, a moving object that can deploy countermeasures against the missile!! :D

I guess there was someone here probably from the BD forces..... would've been really nice to hear something from him regarding the experiences of operating the missiles....

the number four point seems very strong to me.... if that doesn't have a problem, I don't think there should be anything stopping us from installing Chinese or Russian systems on board US or European ships.... we've put C-704 missiles on ex-RN ships.... Chinese FM-90 missiles on Korean-built...

a very important part of the BN that keeps being shelved in the missile FAC squadron.... during the '80s and '90s, we maintained a small force of missile FACs (around 8).... but you can't possibly keep 25-year+ old FACs in the navy even if they're armed with latest C-704 missiles.... Myanmar...

yup!... I also think that Chinese missiles are more logical.... BNS Somudro Joy is big enough for carrying C802/C802A missiles....

the submarine which is probably coming, will help train our forces in ASW.... nothing better than having an actual submarine to train hunting subs.... and helos have a short range.... from shore bases they won't be a potent force to patrol the sea.... fixed wing aircraft, with their longer range...

see, the point is, every country has their own threat perception.... we have respect for the perception of Pakistan.... and there's no debate that you know about Pakistan's threat perception better than us, as that is logical..... perhaps you should also take the perception of Bangladeshis...

it seems that Island-class OPV BNS Sangu is being used as the boarding ship for the SWADS during CARAT.... three years in a row (2011, 2012, 2013).... is it because the ship has the most similarity with civilian ships? :)
