  • In a Way. Imagine getting invited to 800,000 people's weddings and you MUST attend some of them at least not to mention you MUST be part of the Judge committee in say Horse races, Archery and Marksman competitions. Not to mention the very very boring poetry challenges.

You can take my place anytime you want. I will gladly give it to you and run the hell away.
Well Clan is a last name. I am pretty sure they do not even know who the current Clan leader is to begin with lol. And I am also pretty sure that 95% of Saudi Thaqafi clan members don't know who he is even.

As I said it is just Traditional stuff.
Well Right now it is almost instinct. People don't really care if you are a clan leader or not anymore. Tribalism came as a need when our land was not united but King Abdulaziz united KSA and the need for it subsided.

Apart from customary traditions as being part of the welcoming party to the King when he visits. Or his visit to the clan's leader's house every ten years (My Father's house). And having to pay condolences like when Nayef died a couple of days ago there is really not much to it other than that.

Sure I do like meeting heads of states occasionally but it is generally a pain in the a$$.
It is complicated. I am from the Mashaikhi Sub-Clan of Thaqif who are not originally Thaqafis but we can not call ourselves by our original name because my family rules the entire clan so we do not seem like outsiders.

As I said it is very complicated medieval stuff. Kind of like Game Of Thrones. Besides I get the honor of calling myself both :D .

My father is the current head of the clan which at least 800,000 people follow in Saudi Arabia and close to 2 Million world wide if we count the Thaqafi branches in the entire Middle East so it is very complicated.
For the thousandth time, yaaas! My body is just a luxurious vehicle that rides my head around. :p
Oh Hell NO I am not Qurashi. I am from Thaqif of Taif. I rather use the term "Clan" than tribe because it sounds a lot cooler :P
And in fact for the past 3000 years my ancestors have never been Bedouins. In fact my ancestors are credited to be the ones who taught the rest of Arabia civilization. And my clan made the first banner insignia in Arabian history 2500 years ago which is the Red bow and Silver Arrow. It is still used as a stamp till today.
I thought of that but then changed my mind. It's better to be free than to get stick to a job with almost fixed salary. I sway more to job in which I can develop myself and get promoted.
OMG, that was a long time ago. I only hear about myths and stories about them from my father and grandfather. My third great grandfather was a real Bedouin.
Why do you suppose we have camels in the cities?
I have never drunk camel's milk nor eaten it's meat. But I heard it's hard to chew, it stretches.
You have crossd the line you lieutenant! at least the camel is nice and cuddly, his only sin is his delicious milk and redundant stomach...:(. How could u judge the sweet camel so horribly?! Out of my sight with your smuggy little nose and bounty feminine mouth. hehehe
