Process to hand over Anup Chetia begins
The government is in the process to hand over Anup Chetia, detained United Liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa) leader, to the Indian authorities, a minister said here Wednesday.
We have already initiated the legal process to hand him over to India, Home Minister Shahara Khatun told reporters after a meeting at her ministry.
Anup Chetia, general secretary of Ulfa, a northeast Indian separatist group seeking to establish a sovereign Assam, was arrested in Bangladesh in 1997 and is under detention on completion of his jail term.
The move followed the recent Dhaka visit of Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram when the Indian authorities gave a list of 50 Indian nationals, who are now allegedly hiding or kept detained in Bangladesh, asking for handing them over to them.
Saying this, Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder informed reporters that Anup Chetia is on the top of the Indian list.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, handed over a list of 100 people, including two absconding convicted killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and some accused to be involved in the August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally, asking India to send them back.

A very positive action by the Bangladesh Govt.
India should have no hesitation in starting the process to hand over those who have taken shelter in India.
