Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the "Peyare Pakistan" (Pakistan, O beloved) tone set by former President Ziaur Rahman is still being relayed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and is evident in a speech delivered by one of its activists.

Speaking at the parliament, she also slammed BNP leaders and activists for still upholding the “slave-of-Pakistan attitude displayed by its founding father Zia.”

Her remarks were in response to the parliament talk delivered by BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid who opposed the recognition of 'Joy Bangla' as the national slogan.
Coming down heavily on Ziaur Rahman and his followers for churning out pro-Pakistan and anti-liberation narratives, Hasina said, "BNP doesn't believe in the spirit of the Liberation War."

The prime minister accused Ziaur Rahman of murdering her father, also the father of the nation, Bangabandhu, and his family in 1975, saying, "If he (Zia) is not involved, why did Mushtaq make him the chief of the army immediately? They destroyed the spirit of independence. They forbade the historic 'Joy Bangla' slogan. They forbade uttering the name of Bangabandhu."

She concluded her speech by thanking the nation for the recognition of 'Joy Bangla' as the national slogan.

This woman PM is such a bitch that she always says Geebat against President Ziaur Rahman. This Namrudi Begum must be ousted in the next daytime election. Her idiotic utterences and Geebat has downgraded the characters of BD people to the level of Feraun and Namrud.

She is very heinous. She killed her own Party people in the grenade attack in order to upgrade her dwindling popularity.

This was followed by another, the Pilkhana killing of BA officers. She is worse than an animal.

This woman is obsessed with BNP and Ziaur Rahman (as well as Pakistan).

No one cares. She should just move on...

it already 2022 when will they move from 1971

They will not. 1971 is like a gift that keeps on giving for AL.

Rich rewards like re-elections every next term.

Bangladeshis have a soft corner for this - so she banks on it, tugging at their heartstrings.

Funny thing is - none of Hasina's Dad's AL cohorts or her Dad - did any of the fighting. Not one.

Her Dad was in Pakistan safe in a house-arrest situation while the head-honchos of AL were sitting pretty and comfy in Mujibnagar near the Indian border doing the sweaty stuff like writing propaganda communiques living the life as India's guests.

While Bangladeshis of all stripes and backgrounds took it upon themselves to risk fighting the military Junta led by Yahya Khan....and in the process sacrificing their own lives by the tens of thousands....

No AL scumbag in Mujibnagar did anything to help the war effort. Fake ba$tards living off the sacrifices of others.

During the last 50 years this BAL party have been unable to earn any credit or political capital. This is why they are so worried about Zia's popularity.

I personally dislike BNP also, because that idiot Begum Zia created no legacy and her Dear Son earned millions of dollars when people imported some three-wheelers from India.

He came to power after a 1975 military internal conflict that continued for four or five days. This event caused a great celebration among the Bangalee people that the country would remain free of Indian domination.

He re-established close ties with America and China. He sent a military attache to Peking that started a new military ties with China. His coming to power caused America to start sending foods and other essentials that saved many lives.

Without much fund in hand, he started programs like "Food for Work" with the staple food the country received from America. He had just started a new journey for the country but he was killed by Indian conspiracy at the head of which General Ershad was there from the behind.

It is not that Zia had the money or the capacity buildups to do many great things in his short tenure, but he started the process. I would say, that Zia saved us at least two times. One in 1971 and the other during his 5 year tenure at the govt.

Because of his capabilities we remain a free country. And he sacrificed his life for this cause.

Zia was a relatively honest politician - kind of like IK but back in the day.

He is universally respected in Bangladesh for his gallantry as a military leader and subsequently, an exemplary president.

He was trained in Pakistan and participated in the defence of Lahore in 1965 with the East Bengal Regiment.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graduating from the Pakistan Military Academy at 12th PMA long course[20] on 18 September 1955 in the top 10%[13] of his class, Rahman was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Pakistan Army. In the army, he received commando training, became a paratrooper and received training in a special intelligence course.[4]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both him and EBR were decorated for their bravery in the Khemkaran conflict. There are recounts that Bengali soldiers took mines in their chest and went under advancing Indian tanks to blow them up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Rahman saw combat in the Khemkaran sector in Punjab as the commander of a company (military unit) of 100–150 soldiers. Rahman was awarded Hilal-i-Jur'at for gallantry by the Pakistan government[22] medal, Pakistan's second highest military award, and the first Battalion of the East Bengal Regiment (EBR) under which he fought won 3 Sitara-e-Jurat (Star of Courage) medals, and 8 Tamgha-i-Jurat (Medal of Courage) medals, for their role in the 1965 War with India.[23] In 1966, Rahman was appointed military instructor at the Pakistan Military Academy, later going on to attend the Command and Staff College in Quetta, Pakistan, he completed a course in command and tactical warfare. Rahman helped raise two Bengali battalions called the 8th and 9th Bengals[13] during his stint as instructor. Around the same time, his wife Khaleda Zia, now 24, gave birth to their first child Tarique Rahman on 20 November 1966. Rahman joined the 2nd East Bengal regiment as its second-in-command at Joydebpur in Gazipur district, near Dhaka, in 1969, and travelled to West Germany to receive advanced military and command training from the British Army of the Rhine[21] and later spent a few months with the British Army.[4]

Sheik Mujib and Zia both were great people, both being at the right place at the right time. They probably make mistakes here and there like all people does, but ill never respect a person that abuse their names, or paint their legacy and reputation black.

Mujib himself was a fine (some say - innocent) leader, however the problem (and his biggest fault) was his naivete that made him trust his AL minister cohorts too much and his lack of control. This is what ultimately caused his own death as well.

These AL cohorts were universally to a person corrupt and inveterate India shills, who sold Bangladeshi trade interests. jobs down the river and made us wholly dependent on India for even items like biscuits (cookies), Paan ghutka and Hajmola. Never took plans to industrialize or mobilize exports.

India-uber-alles in Bangladesh commerce for fifty years and our industrial sector got royally screwed over as AL ministers took bribes from Indian industrialists and made us dependent on Indian products and trade for everything. I will NEVER EVER forgive AL for this.

Fifty years X avg. 30 Billion or so a year meaning $1.5 Trillion over the years since 1971. That is what we repaid India through AL for coming in for thirty days and "liberating" us, when we did 95% of the fighting ourselves before India ever set foot in our country. Try that one on for size....

India is opportunist nation. We have to be aware of this. The biggest problem is that BD really dosent have a fully functioning intelligence agencie that can terminate compromised individuals.

Why do you want intelligence branch to catch Indian agents when almost the entire Cabinet is under Indian influence? How do you get wool out of a blanket?
