Ankara, Nov 27, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarid on Friday cabled a message to his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusolgu calling for expansion of close cooperation in the fight against terrorism and uprooting of the issue in the region and the world.
In the message, Zarif congratulated his Turkish counterpart on his reappointment as Turkish foreign minister and expressed the hope that under his wisdom and far-sightedness a resolution will be found for the current tensions between Russian and Turkey.
Tehran will seize the opportunity and voice readiness to help resolve regional and global issues at this sensitive juncture, Zarif said.
It is expected that the dispute between the two neighbors to be resolved and all parties will be able to shake hands to a strong deal against terrorism in the region and the world, Zarif said.
Downing a Russian jet fighter by Turkey has created tension in Ankara-Moscow relations.
Iran, Turkey set $30b trade target
Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz and Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayebnia discussed ways of raising bilateral trade to $30 billion.
Yilmaz said that the meeting with his Iranian counterpart was useful, adding the two neighboring countries are ready to expand their trade and economic ties, IRNA reported.
Current annual bilateral trade is at $14 billion and both sides agreed to set the target at $30 billion, he added.
The Turkish official said removal of sanctions against Iran will prepare the grounds for expansion of cooperation.
Tayyebnia told IRNA that he was hopeful about expansion of relations between Iran and Turkey as political and economic relations have expanded in recent years.
Lifting of sanctions and limitations imposed from abroad will prepare the grounds for further development of bilateral ties, he said.
Tayyebnia said he reviewed with the Turkish minister the steps to raise the trade to $30 billion in a faster and more effective way.
