Vedas are ancient knowledge texts, not the "literal word of god" like the Quran is for muslims.

We don't have a holy book like The Bible, or Quraan or The Torah in the Abrahamic traditions. Not even the Bhagvad Gita is central to Hinduism in the same way as The Bible etc.

He is clearly rejecting the Wisdom of Ram/Ishvar/.. because he doesn't find fault with his lack of understanding but rather the inability of Ram/Ishvar of convincing him. A "belief" starts with accepting the supremacy of a deity over you including in knowledge.
