Would you consider the same, if inflation goes up due to rise of crude oil price? Crude pricing is adjusted by govt keping many factors in mind.. Lots of times the benefits are not passed to conumers even if crude prices go down.

If it goes up (lets say 140 i think that was the highest ever price) what can Goi do to control the prices???? I agree that at times the government doesn't pass the benefits most of the time, they uses it to reduce their losses which they made when the prices are high...

You want to hang him without proving the so called alegations.. Congress is the one who tried everything possible to prove the charges against him but could not find a single proof against him. Rather a Congress corporator who was a Muslim got arrested for burning train of Karsevaks. This happened during Congress rule only.

He is liked in the country for the work he is capable of doing. There has been no riots in Gujarat in last 10 + years and this is a achievement because big riots used to happen every other year there.

That's why govt invest in overseas oilfields, so a part of our supply comes at lower rate. He is going ahead with Vietnam gas exploration, talks are on about Russian gas supply, there will be more investment in Iran as situation become clear there. All these will contribute in lowering our spendings on crude oil, i believe. It's not that previous govt were not doing the same but such a things are of paramount importance to him, the fruits of which we will reap in the days to come.

I don't follow domestic Indian economics, but what Zakaria seems to be saying is, not that the destination hasn't been reached, but that the journey hasn't started.

American press lick home department's bums all the time. Going soft on Modi could possibly means Modi becoming more confident while negotiating deals during his US visit. So they will keep him off balance a bit. Rather we are expecting American press adding negative narratives about Modi every time publishing a piece related to him.

Zakaria's article seems aimed at the (westernized) Indian audience, not the general American public.
