SRINAGAR:A youth was killed and two others injured allegedly in CRPF firing on demonstrators in central Kashmir's Budgam district on Saturday, police said.

Three persons were injured when CRPF allegedly fired upon the protestors, who were protesting against the killing of a youth in an Army operation at Tral in south Kashmir's Pulwama district early this week, they said.

The injured youth were rushed to a hospital here, where one youth identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi succumbed to injuries.

The other two youth are being treated upon, the police said.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that preliminary inquiry into the incident indicated that the forces have allegedly acted in violation of the laid down standard operating procedures (SOPs).

He said a case under various sections of the RPC, including 302 (murder), has been registered in police station Magam.

"We regret the unfortunate incident and extend our sympathies to the bereaved family," the spokesman said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq placed under house arrest

Authorities on Saturday placed several separatists, including moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest even as a strike called by hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani over killing of a youth in an Army operation earlier this week evoked a partial response in some parts of Kashmir.

Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest on Saturday morning in view of fresh protests.

Geelani and several other second rung separatist leaders continue to be under house arrest for the second consecutive day on Saturday, the officials said.

These leaders were placed under house arrest on Friday to scuttle Geelani's proposed march to Tral town.

In view of the strike call, shops, business establishments, educational institutes and petrol pumps were shut in and around Lal Chowk city centre but most of them were open in the civil lines areas of the city as well as in other major towns of the valley, the officials said.

They said while public transport was sparse, private vehicles, cabs and auto-rickshaws plied normally.

Geelani had also asked the people to protest against "unjustified and inhuman" arrests of Hurriyat Leaders including Masarat Alam.

Burry him in unmarked grave because he is an intruder from Pakistan.

“If my son was killed in an encounter why his body didn’t bear a bullet wound,” asks Muzaffar Ahmad Wani. “It was a custodial killing”.

Wani’s son Khalid Muzaffar was killed on Monday evening by the army in the forests of Tral. Army termed Khalid a militant and said he was killed in an encounter.

But Wani and the villagers of Tral don’t agree. A principal of a government higher secondary school, Wani says his son was “tortured to death” because his younger brother Burhan Wani is a militant.
“I looked at every inch of his body, from toe to head, and there was no bullet mark on his body,” Wani said. “He was tortured. All his teeth had been damaged, his nose was broken and his forehead and skull too were broken, perhaps by gun butts. His only fault was that he was brother of a militant”.

Well thats what you get if you dont obey the law. Attack soldiers and cops, be prepare to die. See ya

He wasnt unarmed. Get over it. Obey the laws. Go to school and work hard. If some do not like it, then leave
If he was armed then why no bullet was found inside his body and his head and nose wore broken?
Don't obey laws, go for militant ranks and cross border for advance training.:yes4:

You dont need bullets to harm ppl. Throwing stones can kill ppl. Lesson learned. If not, more will die.

Kashmir is a political crisis not a military one. Army cannot be let to ruin years of trust building by their recklessness.
